The best thing since gaming PCs
Yep. It actually is.
What makes it better,
what dafuq is it?
This is the Razer Edge. The worlds fastest gaming tablet. But, its more than that. This isnt just a tablet. Its a pc. But its even more than that. Have you guessed yet?
Its a tablet, Laptop, and Console
Sounds like a dream right? Wrong. This thing is legit.
It was announced awhile back, and hasnt been released just yet.
They plan for it to be priced at $1000. Which is reasonable.
So, enough said. Check it out.

I'd rather have a big fat ass gaming desktop instead of that small thing. It's still a tablet, so I guess you wont be able to extend your memory & such.

I don't expect it to be THAT good, it's only 1000$, That's almost an iPad price, also, why would you play games in such tiny resolution?

You're joking right?Zwall99 wrote:The best thing since gaming PCs
Ok so let me just spill my cup of hate for cheap marketing.
You said it costs $1000 "Which is reasonable."
Let's have a look at this statement*.
When you give Razer $1k, they'll give you a tablet.
This tablet:
- Is 3x as thick as the Ipad 4th Generation.
- Is almost 3x as heavy as the Ipad 4th Generation.
But that's just the practical view of it.
Lets look at the specs.
- Intel Core i5 Dual core @ 1.7GHz
- 4GB RAM DDR3 @ 1600MHz
- NVIDIA GT640M w/ 1G DDR3 Memory
- 10.1” IPS Panal Sceen, 1366x768
- 64GB SSD
So you get a tablet With a Intel Core i5 clocked at 1.7GHz.
This is not bad for a tablet imo.
My laptop Has a i5 with a stock clock at 2.4GHz which i overclocked to 2.7GHz.
You get 4GB RAM DDR3 @1600MHz, this is good. most laptops these days also get 4GB's of RAM.
An NVIDIA GT640M, this is also good. this is what you also get in most laptops these day's.
10.1" screen with the resolution of 1366x768. This is not good. For a pricetag of 1k. The least i'd expect is a FullHD 1920x1080 screen. But there is something behind this issue which i can understand**.
...And you a get a 64G SSD. SSD, ok, good. 64gigs?! yea.. no. This not acceptible.
First off you will loose around 10Gigs to Windows 8 and the Razer Synapse Software.
That leaves you with 54gigs. As pc gaming ppl are seen as 'power users', 54gigs is just not something you can work with. Seeing that you also might want to put pictures, movies and music on it. which could also take up around 14 gigs easilly. Plus you also might want to intstall various programs and stuff, lets say thats another 10 gigs. So that will only leave you with 30gigs for games.
Well i'm sorry but i dont know any 'gamer' who only owns 1 game. so seeing that you'd have more then 1 game on that thing (And seeing that most games now are like, over 8 gigs) your SSD will be full and your tablet will be running slow before you know it.
IF you hand over those $1000 then you would Only have the tablet.
And guess what? If you start gaming with it then that thing on it's battery live then it would only run for 1 HOUR, ONE Freakin Hour! Well worth the $1000! [/sarcasm]
As i said, if you hand over the $1000 then you would only have the tablet.
Yes, only the tablet. You would have to pay an aditional $250 for the 'Gamepad Controller'.
Most controllers these day's cost around $40 these days.
But hey, i guess the 1 hour extra battery life that comes with the controller is worth the extra $210.
But thats not all, now you only have the basic Razer Edge.
You also have a 'pro' version of the Razer Edge.
The Pro version will cost you: $1300.
So what do you get with the extra $300?
well you get:
- Intel Core i7 Dual core @ 1.9GHz
- 8GB RAM DDR3 @ 1600MHz
- NVIDIA GT640M w/ 2G DDR3 Memory
- 10.1” IPS Panal Sceen, 1366x768
- 128GB SSD
Personally, i don't think these changes are worth the money.
The diffirences between the cores are not that big.
I think you wont even notice that much of a diffirence as in performence.
As for the dubble ram, you might notice some improvements as in program performence.
Also the 1gig extra video ram will be noticeble when playing games, so thats also a +
I would have loved it if the pro version had a FullHD screen... but no.
The 128GB SSD is also an improvement. Yet, many people think SSD's are >9k times faster then regular HDD's. but there is no information the the read/wright speeds on the site. so i dont have much expectations in the form of performance on those SSD's.
So if you want the full/best experience of the Razer Edge, then you would have to pay the price of $1550!
Damn.. i could buy a suck gaming rig with that money.
Well, i don't know about you...
But the hell that i would buy this overrated/overprice "Gadget".
Yes, this is just another Gadget of this generation to get money for the company.
Oh also, just to finish it off:
If you choose to buy a razer edge, then be sure to be prepaired to be spied on.

Zwall, if you think that tablet is a good deal, then you might want to check out the free candy in Kevo's KRAZO'S windowless van.
