Let the Games Begin
Hey.
Well, the Olympics have started (Well, a while ago, anyways), and I was wondering if you guys have been to any of the events/got any facts/any news/anything else I've missed. So far, China are 1st in the way of medals, the US 2nd and UK at 5. I was a tthe rowing yesterday, and am going to the beach volley ball tomorrow. :P.
Hope it doesnt rain!

Re: Let the Games Begin
I'm just starting to get into the Olympics, because track and field is starting up. Interestingly enough, I just watched Dai Greene from UK win the first heat of the 400 men's hurdles. If he wins the Gold medal, he will be among the first person to have won European, World, and Olympic titles in that event.
Also looking forward to the sprints. I'm not a sprinter, but this years Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake looks to beat out Usain Bolt as fastest man in the world. Good thing too. Usain Bolt is a showboat in my opinion.
Olympic Tennis is an extreme sport, and don't let anyone tell you different! Federer from Sweden and Del Potro from Portugal are going at it, and have been going at it, for the past five hours. And this is the third time they've played.

Federer has just beaten del Potro in a tiebreaker in the third set. He will move to the finals.
Stuff about swimming, Michael Phelps won the 200m IM (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breastroke, then Freestyle) to become the first swimmer to win an event in back to back to back Olympics. Earlier these Olympics he got the record for most medals ever by a single Olympian.

That's true, it's kinda unfair but the former record holder was actually a female Russian gymnast. But they too get lots of medals although they usually only compete in one Olympics for some reason.

Canada's doing pretty amazing for its relatively small population percentage! I'm very proud of our athletes.

Pretty sure that link will solve your problems. Tbh, I forgive your ignorance because I have no clue who any of the athletes are, including the Canadian ones.

And it is Summer Olympics. If we can do great in Summer we should be outstanding in Winter!

Re: Let the Games Begin
Ill be perfectly honest, Canada blows in the summer...
But we did get the most gold last olympics.. on home territory!
Vancouver 2010 All the way!
By the way: Canada is in 12th place as of this post, just saw it a few minutes ago, this is for total medals, not gold. we dont have a single gold medal yet

I attended fencing (men's individual sabre) and all three US athletes got knocked out in the quarterfinal. The last Canadian representative lost in the last 32 fencers, to an Italian guy I think. The last GB representative lost even before that. It's been raining here like everyday...Go Canada and US!
