Oasis MC Rules

Welcome to Oasis MC! In order to create an environment that is enjoyable for all players, we have created a carefully defined set of rules which apply to each and every player on Oasis. Please read these rules carefully, as you are responsible for knowing and following them, and will be held accountable for any rules you break. Unfortunately, no list of rules is ever exhaustive, this means it is up to the discretion of the staff as to whether or not a rule has been violated. If you have been found to have violated a rule not on this list, depending on the severity, you may only receive a warning and the staff member who warned you may be required to discuss the issue with the rest of the staff.

Please note this is the only official documentation of the rules, and the rules written here are those which must be followed at all times by players and staff alike. A rule change is not final until it is reflected here.

Chapter 1: Rules for All Servers

Copyright Notice

Oasis MC refers to our server network. The individual servers at the present date are Oasis SMP, Oasis Lobby, Oasis PVP (currently offline) and Oasis MINI (Oasis minigames). We ask that these names are not copied or used for other people's servers. If you do so then you may face an instant ban from Oasis MC. This will also apply to copying any of our original content. Be it plugins, rules, or posts/documents hosted on this forum or other platforms hosted by Oasis MC, including Teamspeak, Discord, or our online radio. Original content is protected automatically by copyright law and any attempt to copy, modify or distribute it is illegal and may be prosecuted as such. If you have any queries contact a member of the staff team.

Section I. Chat Rules, Conduct and Names/Prefixes

a. Other Servers and Advertising
If you decide to start your own server, or become infatuated with another Minecraft server, there's nothing we can do to stop you. However, we do ask that you not promote or discuss outside servers while in-game on Oasis MC. Doing so may result in a warning, then continued advertising of another server may result in a ban from the server. We only ask that you give our server the same level of respect that the founders of Oasis gave every other server upon its creation. You may send a friend an IP of another server through private messages if this is a once-off event, but you must not start spamming people with other IPs of servers to join. Use your common sense, we aren't going to punish you for asking your friend privately if they want to play some minigames on another server, but if you start trying to get multiple players to leave the Oasis MC server then this will be punished and is not allowed in game, this includes PMs and group chats.

We are happy for players to advertise content such as video streams or YouTube channels so long as it is not their sole reason for logging on, and that it is sparingly mentioned. You are NOT allowed to spam any sorts of advertisements. If your advertising is bothering anyone then you must stop IMMEDIATELY.

b. Chat Etiquette and Swearing
Oasis is home to a wide range of players, including children and families, so we ask that you keep chat suitable and appropriate for everyone. In general, minor cursing is allowed on the server, but only to the level of PG-13. This means no 'f-bombs' or similar. We ask that you use your common sense. If someone tells you that they feel uncomfortable with the level of swearing or sexual content, you are to stop IMMEDIATELY. Even if you do not think your language was above the realms of PG-13, if someone is uncomfortable you must stop. This includes PDA (personal display of affection) in the general chat. If you feel like another player is being unreasonable, please speak to staff to discuss your concerns.

Excessive swearing or other explicit content/language is punishable by a kick or ban depending on the serverity. Oasis has a zero tolerance policy for socially unacceptable terms such as 'getting raped' or ‘kys’ (kill yourself). These are highly inappropriate for a Minecraft gaming network. Clearly no racist, sexist, or any other kind of disrespectful or discriminatory language is allowed on Oasis and the least penalty you will face is a ban. Oasis prides itself on the inclusion of everyone and we ask that you do not make anyone feel uncomfortable or unincluded. Topics of discussion such as politics can quickly get out of hand so we ask that you keep them brief. If you wish to go more in depth then please do it in a private message or a group chat. Excessive political debates or similar are NOT permitted in public chat.

Please also note that we ask you to speak the English language in public chat. The server is hosted in America and the majority of players are from English speaking countries, this means that in order to reduce spam we need to set restrictions on the languages allowed in public chat. You aren’t however going to be banned for short conversations in other languages, or for using simply greetings such as “Bonjour” or “Hola”. Feel free to use other languages in private messages and group chats, but if you're going to talk to the server as a whole, try to make sure everyone can understand what you're saying. All of these chat etiquette and swearing rules also apply to our Teamspeak and Discord servers.

c. Respect
We ask that you exhibit the level of respect that would be expected of you in person. This means respecting ALL players, not just staff members. That said, you must respect the staff of the servers at all times, they have absolute authority on the server and very knowledgable of the rules. Staff are volunteers who give up their free time to help the server in any way possible. You should never be impolite to a staff member and any indication that you are doing so may result in further action, especially if it is severe enough to be classed as disrespect.  Any disrespect to staff members or anyone one else will be punished accordingly. This includes calling out vanished staff before they have announced their presence. If you genuinely feel you have been mistreated by a staff member then you can post a ban appeal, contact the staff member directly via private message on the forums, or contact the server owner, Madscientist032, but this does NOT give you the right to 'back-chat' or be rude to a staff member. (When contacting the staff member you disagree with it is usually best to wait a while after the initial event. Lots of staff will take this as you pestering them about your ban. Always be polite and constructive, if you want a second opinion then ask another staff member first. If you send a staff member threats (or similar messages) not only will you face an instant permanent ban but harassment could also be dealt with by the police as this is an illegal offense.) Also please note, the use of racial slurs or other extremely offensive language/behavior is strictly prohibited and may result in further action taken against you beyond a server ban.

d. Spamming
Spam is defined here as ANY obnoxious chat behavior, not only sending the same message over and over, and is prohibited at all times. Examples of spam include using all capital letters in multiple sentences, random letters, macro use in public chat without permission, various forms of begging, the usage of a hacked client to spam, or any other form of disrupting chat solely for the purpose of being a nuisance. Any kind of annoying chat that is bothering the other players on the server can and will be classed as spamming. Spamming can be punishable by a temporary mute, tempban, or permanent ban. Please note also that spamming can include using commands such as /afk to put many messages in chat, or purposefully dying to spam people with death messages and all will be treated as spamming. PDA also applies here.

e. Changing Name / Nicknames and Prefixes
As of February 4th 2015, Mojang has allowed players to change their physical Minecraft usernames. You of course are allowed to do this but several rules apply. Your player name must conform to all the above rules in order to play on Oasis as any disrespectful or inappropriate names will violate our chat rules. Your player name also cannot impersonate a staff member or another player in the community. If you join with an inappropriate name you will either be asked to leave, or we may grant you a temporary 'nickname' to a more suitable name. Nicknames are only used in serious circumstances or for some donators. Donators’ nicknames must be similar to their original name except in extreme circumstances. Mods+ are allowed to have nicknames but they must conform to the rules outlined above.

Prefixes are generally determined by your rank, but some donors are allowed to have custom prefixes. Once again these must conform to chat rules as well as other rules such as being no more than 10 characters long, containing no non-alphanumeric characters and not implying ownership or superiority over others of the same rank. You are allowed to have one color for your prefix brackets, one for your prefix title, and one for your name, resulting in an allowance of 3 different colors.

f. Private Messaging and Group Chats
We have features in place to allow players to chat privately with others. This can be used generally as you like, chat rules about swearing will not apply in private messages AS LONG AS ALL PARTIES INVOLVED ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THE LEVEL OF CHAT. You may not disrespect players or staff in private messages, and you cannot do socially unacceptable things such as setting up a group chat to talk behind someone's back for disrespectful reasons. If any indications of any of these are reported, you may face a ban or be blocked from using private message commands etc.

g. Links/URLS
You may post URLS (links) in chat once you are trusted rank, but you must only link appropriate web locations that obey all the chat rules stated elsewhere. Any links to inappropriate websites may result in you being banned from the server or having the ability to post links removed. If you are unsure if your link is appropriate you can ask a staff member to look it over before you publically post it.

h. Personal Information
Sensitive information like locations, your school, your full name or phone number, can all be dangerous things to talk about in a public chat. Obviously telling someone your first name will not be doing any harm, but you must exercise caution when giving out personal information. Giving out someone else’s personal information is STRICTLY PROHIBITED under every circumstanc and may be punishable by law. Just because you know someone's address or phone number does not mean you are allowed to give this information out. The same goes for linking to player’s social media accounts. In general, avoid doing any of these. It is always safer to give out information about yourself in private messages to people you trust. If you feel as if someone is pressuring you to give out personal information you should contact a staff member as soon as possible!

i. Skins and other images
In line with all other rules regarding conduct of players and staff, skins also follow suit. Any images depicted in skins must be appropriate for all players, this means no explicit sexual content, curse words, discrimination such as racism, etc. We also ask that skins are not used to try and impersonate staff members. If you are found to be using an inappropriate skin we will first ask you to change it, but if you do not comply then you may be banned. Any other images that can be represented in game including capes, banners, etc. must also obey these rules and must be appropriate for all players.

j. Staff Discretion
As applies to all Oasis MC rules, staff may exercise their own discretion at all times. Just because something you do is not a documented 'rule', you must follow instructions by staff at all times. If you do something in chat that someone is uncomfortable with, then you must always stop immediately even if you don’t think it's covered in the rules. If you are unsure, then contact a staff member. Equally, if a staff member asks you to stop doing something in chat then you must obey them, if you argue with a staff member this is likely to fall under the disrespect rules. Always follow the information from staff and if you think something they say or do is incorrect then contact them personally by a private message or contact an administrator.

Section II. Client-Side Modifications / Hacks

This section of the server rules states which modifications are allowed and which are banned. A client-side modification alters your client to show you more information or alter your game so that it is different than the vanilla version of the game. Client-Side Modifications are generally not allowed and need to be approved by an Admin/Owner before being used. This applies to all servers. Hacks or hacked clients are entirely different, and are not allowed! Hacked clients use malicious modifications that directly change your gameplay. These hacked clients can automatically target enemies, allow you to fly, have x-ray, and much more. Here is a short list of Modifications that are strictly banned and some that are Admin approved.

a. Banned Modifications / Hacks
Any modifications that give you an unfair edge over other players are not allowed. These include but are definitely not limited to X-ray, player radars, Fulbright, fly hacks and force fields. Modifications such as changing the Minecraft files to increase your Gamma beyond the regular levels, or using an X-ray resource pack, are also strictly prohibited. Using these can result in a kick, temp-ban, permanent-ban, and/or IP ban. If you have a question about using a mod that isn't on the Allowed Modifications list below, please ask a staff member.

b. Allowed Modifications
-Client-Side Mini Maps - Only allowed if it does not show entities, cave details, and anything   that gives an advantage over other players.
-OptiFine
-Too-Many-Items
-Better Chat (Note: abusing the hot-key feature is considered spam, and will be punishable like such)
-Ingame info XML - Displays information that is already available to you, but in a simpler and customizable way.
-Custom Crosshair
-Mine Menu - Allows for easy keybinding and custom menus. This is allowed aslong as you aren’t using any illegal modifications with it.
-StatusEffectHUD - Shows potion effects and other various aesthetics.
-ArmorStatusHUD - Shows armor durability and goes along with StatusEffectHUD

(Add links to a safe download for each mod in the list above!)

c. Other Modifications
Modifications other than the ones listed above are not allowed unless you have the permission of a staff member. If you are unsure of the legality of a mod, please ask a staff member and we will be pleased to help you.

Section III. Appealing a Ban

Any player who is banned for any reason may appeal their ban on the Oasis MC Forums at https://www.oasis-mc.net/f12-appeal-a-ban. You MUST have the reason you were banned, and a convincing argument as to why you deserve to be pardoned. It will help your case to know the particular staff member who banned you.

a. Ban Evading
At no point in time are you allowed to come on the server using a different account whilst you are banned, if you do we will easily know, and you will be punished to further extent. This will most likely result in an IP ban and may void any chances you have to appeal your ban!

b. Blaming Others
If you have performed a specific action that is seen as bannable offense on Oasis SMP, then keep in mind, you will get caught. Blaming someone else will not change the situation. You are responsible for your account and what happens on it. "My friend did it!" is not a valid excuse. We aren’t banning your ‘friend’, we are banning the account that broke the rules.

c. Success/Denial of ban appeals
Your ban appeal will nearly always be handled by the staff member that banned you. It will be their ultimate decision if you remain banned or not. In the situation that the person who banned you is no longer a staff member then your ban will usually be handled by one of the owners of the server. If you were banned on agreement of multiple staff members or the staff team as a whole then it is likely that your ban appeal will either be handled by an Admin or an Owner. If your ban appeal is in fact denied, then please do not spam the forums with another one straight away. In a month or two if you still feel you have grounds for appeal, feel free to make a new post, but there will never be any guarantees that your ban appeal is accepted. Claiming that a staff member is lying in your ban appeal is likely to result in it being denied, we only ban people when we have full proof, so please just own up to anything you have done. All past bans and ban appeals will remain archived on the forums for future reference.

Section IV. Rule Loopholes

a. Using a Loophole for Personal Gain
If you or any other player on the server is found using a loophole in the rules to get an advantage over or to grief a player, you will be punished accordingly. This covers any action deemed unlawful by the staff.

b. Finding and Reporting Loopholes
If you or any other player have found someone using a rule loophole, you must report it to the staff, preferably, via the forums or in-game chat immediately. Failing to report a loophole may result in punishment.

c. Constituted Rules and Regulations
The staff have the power to punish players for rules not found in this document. However, they will have to present evidence of a wrong-doing and a good reason to why the player deserved to be punished. If no sufficient reason and/or evidence is given, the punishment may be lifted, if determined by staff. It is not your place as the player to argue with the concerned staff member, their actions will be dealt with by the Owner. If you wish to appeal a ban, use the ban appeals forum.

Section V. Alternate Accounts and VPNs

a. Alternate Accounts
If you wish to have an alternate account, it will follow the same rules as anyone else on the server and will pertain to all the same server rules. You are responsible for all the accounts you own, and if you are banned on one of your accounts, then we are also likely to ban your alternate account. If you log in using an alternate account while banned on another account this will be treated as Ban Evasion, and treated as such.

b. Alternate Staff Accounts
If a member of staff wishes to have an alternate account with staff powers on it, they must post a thread about it on the staff forums and have it approved by the staff before having staff powers added to it.

c. Transferal of Power/Perks
For staff alternate accounts, as mentioned above, once the thread is approved by another administrator, they may add powers to the alternate account. If it is a staff member wishing to transfer power, meaning leave the other account as a non-staff account, a public thread must be made after the staff thread has been approved. If it is a non-staff member, they need to make a public thread that has to be approved by a moderator or an administrator.

d. VPNs (Virtual Private Network) clients
For security reasons, VPNs are not allowed AT ALL on the Oasis network. Anybody caught using a VPN for whatever reason will receive an automatic server-wide ban. If for whatever reason you REQUIRE the use of a VPN to connect and play on the Oasis network please contact a staff member for assistance. Similarly if you have been banned for using a VPN and no longer use it, then post a ban appeal to be unbanned.

Section VI. Subject to Change and Discretionary Clause

Please be aware that these rules are subject to change at any time, and it is the responsibility of you, the player, to review the rules and be aware of any changes. You will be held accountable for your actions, and any rule breaking can and will be met with punishment. All of the above rules are under the discretion of the Oasis staff. This also means an administrator can enforce a new rule at any given time whether in game or on this official list. If at any time you feel a staff member has overstepped their bounds, you have the right to dispute this discretely. Firstly contact the staff member to ask about their actions, be aware that you are expected to respect the staff member at all times and you should not argue with them, if you are still unconvinced check with a different staff member for a second opinion. It will be documented in the server logs and may be reviewed upon if needed.

Chapter 2: SMP Server Rules

Section I. Griefing

a. Griefing Defined
Griefing is defined as the act of destroying or modifying blocks that another player has placed without their consent. It also encompasses building on another person's property, or within 16 blocks (1 chunk) of it, without their consent. Additionally, building more than 16 blocks away from a build in an attempt to get around this rule is not acceptable, and will also be considered griefing if your intention is to worsen the person’s playing experience (See Rule Loophole Section). It also includes ruining other people's playing experience, such as causing massive server lag. Destroying or modifying public property, or not fully removing all log blocks from a tree you have cut down are also examples of Griefing. In short, Griefing is causing another player to have a poor playing experience. There are 2 main streams of griefing. Griefing for your own gain, and griefing to deliberately cause annoyance to another player. Breaking a few blocks to quickly get across an area of land is likely to be punished less harshly than someone who purposefully destroys someone’s entire house on purpose. However; BOTH will carry suitable punishments and NEITHER are allowed! This also includes "breaking in" to someone's house to "take a look", and will still be punishable as griefing!

b. Consequences for Griefing
If you are caught Griefing, or evidence has been submitted proving you have griefed, you may be banned for a period of time as determined by the staff. If you are online when a staff member finds a grief, then they will issue you with a verbal warning for minor griefs, but major ones may result in you being instantly banned. The severity of the punishment is determined by the staff member that catches you, and may differ from another staff member. If your Griefing is in fact on a larger scale, it is likely that you may receive a permanent ban. If it is on a smaller scale, your ban time can last anywhere from a few hours up to one week. Likewise, many minor griefs will result in larger punishments than a one-off offence. If you have been banned for griefing in the past, and successfully appeal the ban, you cannot be banned again for griefs that were missed from your original ban.

c. Reporting Griefing
There are four ways in which you can report griefing:
1. By alerting all staff members who are logged in-game with /helpop
2. By using /report which will alert staff when they login that there has been an issue, they can teleport to the location that you used /report at and will inspect the area for griefing.
3. By making a post or private message to the staff on the Oasis MC forums.
4. By making a post on the forums, preferably with a video or screenshot(s). If you'd like your case to have action be taken against it more quickly, please provide evidence of the grief, such as a screenshot.

d. Griefing Replacements
If something of yours has been griefed, you are entitled to have a staff member replace the exact number of blocks that you lost. The staff member may, but is not required to, assist you in rebuilding. We can usually roll-back all damage with our plugins immediately. But it becomes much harder if you attempt to fix the grief yourself, so we ask that you leave it to us and have patience!

e. Grief Removal
Should your house/creation be griefed, you are to report it to staff within 14 days (2 Weeks). Should staff find a house/creation that has been griefed, and not reported, they may remove it with no refund of items. This is to cut down on the houses built by guests who only visit once, leaving half built or abandoned houses behind.

Section II. Stealing

a. Chest Stealing
You may not steal items from another player's chest in the SMP server. If you are caught doing this, you may be instantly banned, either permanently or temporarily. Make sure that you have a player’s permission before accessing their chests. You can be punished for opening another player's chest to have a look as well as if you actually take anything, the chest is not your property! You can lock your chests by placing a sign with [Private] on the first line. For more info on locking chests and doors, contact a staff member.

b. Death Stealing
If another player dies, they drop their items on the floor upon death. You will know a player has died if you see a pile of items on the ground. If you find an instance such as this, you are NOT allowed to take the items on the SMP server. You must leave the items where they were, since it is probable that the player has recently died, and is searching for their items. However, you can ask in chat if the person would like help by either having you put their items in a chest or holding on to them so they don’t vanish from the ground. If you believe someone has stolen your items or haven’t properly returned all of your items you can contact staff and we can check.

c. Replacing Lost / Stolen Items
Replacing lost or stolen items is a tricky thing if they are taken from the floor, seeing as there is no way to prove the validity or exact amount of missing items. (It is much easier with chests) In addition, it is highly recommended that you lock all of your chests with a [private] sign. As such, a staff member is not required to replace any lost or stolen items on Oasis SMP. If you die from falling in lava, zombies, drowning etc. your items will not be returned. This is, after all, a survival server, so therefore you have to survive. Replacing lost or stolen items can only be done by a staff member.

Section III. Murder/Violence

a. Killing another player
On the SMP server you are not allowed to cause the death of another player in any way. PVP is disabled in the SMP world to prevent you directly damaging another player, however, there are many ways you can still cause harm. These include things such as spawning lava on them or pushing them off of a cliff. These actions are strictly prohibited. Please note that if you attack something that is owned by someone else, for example: a wolf, and you are killed, that is your fault and it does not count as murder. You should always contact a staff member if you are unsure about a death because there are many situations that can occur that can cause player killing purposely or accidently.

b. Traps
Traps are allowed in the SMP world, but MUST be clearly marked with a sign that they will result in death. If they are not, you will be punished. If you die from a marked trap, it is your fault and you will not receive a refund for your lost items. Traps include digging large holes for no reason and not marking them or filling them up afterwards, especially small ones that are hard to notice!

c. Killing player's animals or pets
If it is clear that an animal (or any mob in the game) has been claimed by a player, be it in a pen / enclosed area or not, then you must not kill this and it will be punishable as griefing. This includes players farm animals, pigs, sheep, chickens etc. As well as their tamed cats/ocelots, wolves/dogs, horses etc. You must NOT ever kill any of these animals. If an animal is clearly un-owned then you may claim it for yourself and/or kill it. If there is a public sheep farm then according to the individual player's rules you can most likely shear the sheep but killing them is unlikely to be allowed.

Section IV. Building Rules

a. Pillars
If you build a small, thin pillar in order to reach a high area, you are required to remove it when you are done using it. Tall thin pillars or walkways are not allowed, and can be considered griefing. It is up to the discretion of the staff member if a tower falls within this category. These pillars look very ugly, and are an eyesore to the whole server. Usually these will be 1x1 pillars, but just because you make it 2 blocks wide does not mean it is allowed!

b. Property Restrictions
A player's property is defined as the area enclosed by what they have built in one specific plot of land, plus 16 extra blocks (1 chunk) in any direction. Example: if a player builds a house that is 16x16, they are entitled to a 32x32 area in which their house is the exact center. Any issues concerning property ownership or building rights is within the discretion of the staff.

c. Lag Generating Structures
Builds which generate excessive amounts of lag as determined by staff are strictly prohibited. Examples include large scale automatic farms, redstone clocks and large numbers of mobs or animals crammed into a small location. Building upon the top of the nether is strictly prohibited! In the event a build is deemed to generate excessive amounts of lag it must either be dismantled or modified in a way to bring lag generation down to an acceptable level as determined by staff. Staff have explicit permission to kill mobs if there is a very large amount in a small location to reduce lag. We recommend you spread out any mobs you own in large pens. Mobs are currently limited to 100 per chunk by our plugins, but this is not a target!

d. Diamond Blocks and other rare blocks
Diamond Blocks and similar are allowed on the server in moderation. You are allowed to use them as a building material; however, be warned that they are a great potential that they will be griefed. If you use excessive amounts of very rare blocks in a build unnecessarily then staff are not required to fix griefs that occur. HOWEVER; you will still be punished if you do attempt to grief these structures!

e. Generating/Duplication Machines
As of update beta 1.7+, Pistons were added that could be utilized to make multiples of one material or generate new materials. These are not permitted on this server and will result in a ban. Along with this, no other form of duplicating items will be tolerated whatsoever. Any breach of these rules can result in a permanent ban. Smooth stone generators are the only type of block generator that the staff will allow, however it is advised that you keep them relatively small.

f. Property Claiming
If you want to claim an area of open land for you or your town, you must first make sure that the area that you want to claim is not inhabited by anyone. You must also make a clear defined border, preferably walls or torches, and if it's owned by staff, you may also put a region. If something is built inside the borders of the claimed area, you must ask a staff to move it from the area. If you take it upon yourself to remove it, it will be considered griefing. The same applies to player owned towns, hotels etc. You are not allowed to claim massive amounts of property in an attempt to hoard land. If you claim large amounts of property you must be ready to use it. If you do not use the land within a period of 2 months (60 days) then you forfeit your right to that claimed land. Unless claimed otherwise, towns will have a default claimed radius of 100 blocks from their spawn point.

g. Town Rules
Rules established within a township or community of players are binding within the designated space of the township or community. For example, if there is a town that wishes to have plots be a lesser or greater distance or a spleef arena that allows killing, you are agreeing to these rules by entering the space. The Rule variations should be posted in a readily visible area to avoid confusion. You are allowed to sell off plots of land within an established town or community so long as there is nothing built on the land using spawned items. You are allowed to sell hotel rooms for example using spawned items on the pretenses that players are not allowed to remove these items! You must not give out spawned items, and equally, players may not remove spawned items! In general, town rules override server rules so long as they have been previously agreed by staff. If the majority of staff have any problems with the server rules being broken in the town, they can give warnings and punishments at their discretion. Things such as chat rules must ALWAYS be obeyed.

h. Automatic Farms & AFK Farming
Firstly AFK in this case will refer to not only being away from keyboard but also idling in the same location, and any attempt to stop yourself idling by using a mod or "AFK pool" will be punished when by an auto farm. AFK farming and idling at automatic farms are strictly prohibited on Oasis SMP. An automatic farm is a farm that automatically operates, whether it be harvesting crops or killing mobs, without any action from the player. If these farms are left running then the build up of things such as mobs causes severe server lag! Automatic farms when used with AFK farming also have an impact on the market by bringing in a steady stream of items when no work was done. This gives an unfair advantage over players, and has a negative impact on the economy. If you are found AFK farming then you will be punished accordingly. Staff may remove the harvested items, destroy the automatic farm, remove money from your balance, and/or temporarily or permanently ban you. We encourage you to have farms that require a button press to harvest the material, or that you harvest the materials yourself. If you have any questions about your farm you should ask a staff member!

Section V. Kits, Spawned Items, Creative Mode & Donator/Oasian Rules

a. /item and /kit
To be used for personal reasons only! You should never give out the contents of a kit unless it complies to the following rules. The same occurs for /item and similar commands. The only time you may give spawned items out is when another player is helping you with a project of your own, and in that case, you may only give them the EXACT number of items needed to help with your own project. You CANNOT give someone a spawned in tool to "borrow"! You may not spawn tools for the other person to use, only the certain number of blocks needed for the project. Also, you MAY NOT spawn items listed on the banned items list. You MAY spawn and use bedrock, but the bedrock is your responsibility. Since you will have no way to get rid of the bedrock, you must be sure you place it correctly. Staff members are not obliged to delete bedrock you place incorrectly. You may not spawn items in any direct way to boost your EXP level. This applies to staff as well. If you're found doing this, disciplinary action may be taken against you by a temporary ban and/or removing your ability to spawn items.

b. /tpa and /tpahere
These commands are only to be used with expressed permission of the person in question with the teleport. This goes for teleporting to players, and bringing players to yourself. You must never use these commands to harass others. Make sure to have explicit permission from the owner of a home if you are teleporting people to their home.

c. Donator Privileges
Just because you have donated does not mean you have the ability to break rules without penalty. If you are found breaking a rule you will be punished to the same extent as any other regularly playing member. Abuse of previlages may lead to loss of those permissions depending on the circumstance. The owners do not issue refunds to donators who get banned from Oasis MC or lose their donor permissions due to abuse.

d. Prefixes
For obvious reasons there are limitations to the prefixes that you are allowed to have as a donator. For example, you may not have anything that is inappropriate (remember this is a PG-13 server) or breaks our rules regarding chat and conduct, and you may not have anything implying ownership, staff membership, or superiority over others of the same rank as you. Donators are allowed to use any color except dark red (Color Code &4, Otherwise known as ‘Owner Red’) as this is reserved for the owners and staff of the server. You are also not allowed to use &0 for your prefix or name because it is hard to read (You may have black brackets). Donators may only change their colors or prefix once a month. In general prefixes must also only contain alpha-numeric characters. (letters and numbers, no symbols or emoticons) There may be exceptions allowing the use of hyphens (-) or symbols such as the plus (+).

e. Perks and Donation Totals
While there is no limit that you can donate to the server, there is a limit for how much one may donate in regards to another player. There is a maximum donation total of $30 towards any one person. Let it be known that donating money for someone else will not increase the total that you have donated for yourself, only their total. If you lose access to your account then we can transfer your donor status and perks to a new account as well as your rank. See the "Transferral of power" section.

f. DisguiseCraft/MobDisguise/LibsDisguises
All donators who have access to DisguiseCraft/MobDisguise are expected to use this perk as a novelty. Do not use DisguiseCraft/MobDisguise to disguise as a staff member, and do not disguise and spy on guests. Any incidents or reports of players attempting to impersonate staff or act like a staff member will be taken seriously, and your ability to disguise may be revoked if necessary. Having the ability to disguise yourself is meant to be a fun addition, and should not be used to harass new players.

g. Creative Mode Rules
Any players with access to creative mode must obey all regular Oasis rules. The same rules that apply for Oasians and donators apply to those with creative. Items which are on the blacklist must not be spawned/used regardless of if it "lets you" or not.

Section VI. Selling Items

Any player may sell items at any price they wish, as long as the buyer agrees to the price, and the items are not spawned with /item, /kit, or with creative. If a player cheats you out of coins or items then contact staff immediately, preferably with screenshot proof. We may have to check the server logs. Also note all currency transactions are logged by our plugins.
The items for sale must be gathered legitimately. Special rules apply to shop-world located at /warp shop, and these are displayed on rule boards near the entrance.

Section VII. Banned Items / Storing Items

a. List of banned items.
Depending on your rank on the server, you may be allowed to use or not use specific items.
Here is a list of items that are banned from being spawned or found in your inventory as a guest along with the ranks that may use them. If you are found to have these items in your inventory, disciplinary action will be taken against you immediately.

- Flint & Steel (May be used by Trusted players and up)
- Lava & Water buckets (May be used by Trusted players and up)
- Splash Poison/Harming Potions (Not allowed without staff permission)
- Mob Spawning Eggs (Eggs are not allowed for any non-staff player unless they have staff consent OR have purchased them from the Admin Shop)
- Fireball/Fire Charges (May be used for fireworks but must not be used to set anything on fire! (Trusted players and up may use it as if it were flint and steel))
- TNT (May be used as decoration by Oasians and over)
- End Crystal (May be used by all players in 'the end')
- Any items over the maximum enchant level (Without prior staff permission)
- Any items which may be used to cause damage to the server or its players

b. Usage of Lava and Flint & Steel:
Trusted players and above are allowed to spawn and place lava. You may spawn and place lava blocks for someone other than yourself. You cannot give away the blocks and if you are helping, the person must have a legitimate reason for their placement (i.e. trash-can or cobble machine). Trusted players and above can also place fire with Flint & Steel. Similar to lava, you may place fire for players if it is for a good reason like lighting their nether portal.

Oasis MC Official Rules Empty Re: Oasis MC Official Rules

Chapter 3: PVP Server Rules

Section I. Griefing

In general, griefing is allowed on the PVP server. You are allowed to destroy any structures created by others. If you are caught harassing players in other ways, such as via the chat or private messages, or socially unacceptable signs, then these however are not allowed. The same goes for any hacking or lag producing methods to prevent someone else’s gameplay.

Section II. Stealing

All stealing is allowed on the PVP server, including from chests and other containers as well as death looting.

Section III. Murder/Violence

PVP is enabled on the PVP server and you are allowed to kill other players. You are not allowed to teleport while in combat for any reason. Doing so will result in immediate punishment. Logging out of the PVP world is strictly prohibited as well and will be dealt with by staff. Spawn-camping is also unfair to the newer and respawning PVP players and is also against the rules. There are however many methods in place to stop players using these crimes to their advantage. For example; logging out while in combat on the PVP server will result in your body being left behind for your opponent to kill while you are gone. Any items lost in PVP will be open to anyone to take.

Section IV. Building Rules

a. Lag Generating Structures
Builds which generate excessive amounts of lag as determined by staff are strictly prohibited. Examples include large scale automatic farms and Redstone Clocks. Mobs are currently limited to 100 per chunk by our plugins, but this is not a target!

Chapter 4: Mini-Game Server Rules

Section I. Cheating

No cheating of any form is allowed in any Minigames. This includes the people playing the game, any staff running the game, and any players who have been selected to be a part of a minigame team. If you are caught cheating, you may face a complete ban from the minigame server. Cheating by any modifications is also strictly disallowed.

Section II. Murder/Violence

Many of our minigames are PVP based so of course murder is allowed. If you believe that a player is disrupting your playing experience, for example by friendly-fire (killing someone on the same team), or by other means, report it to a staff member immediately.

Section III. Mini-Game Teams

If you have been privileged enough to be selected to work on a mini-game as a member of the minigames team, then you must make sure to follow the rules at all times. You must not knowingly disrupt any of the minigames, grief any of the minigames areas, or steal any items you aren’t allowed. If you are caught abusing any of the extra permissions you are granted then not only will you face demotions in the minigames world, but possibly in other servers as well, or even a global ban from Oasis MC. We trust you with the permissions we grant you so it is your responsibility to uphold that trust at all times. You will be given a briefing by a staff member upon joining a team to tell you in detail what your duties are and what you can or cannot do.

Section IV. Mini-Game Ranks

If you gain a certain amount of points on the minigames server then you may be granted extra permissions, such as new classes or kits, as well as possibly even particle effects. You must not abuse these in any way, especially things such as particle effects. If you are found to be harassing any players, then these permissions will be immediately revoked.

Chapter 5: Staff Member Rules

Section I. Staff Rules

Intro:
Your first priority as a staff member MUST be to help out other players and catch griefers before you build for yourself. If there are other players who require legitimate assistance, you MUST help them out, even if it means interrupting construction on one of your projects.

a. Kicking/Banning
Here is the procedure for kicking/banning a player who has broken a rule.

-You should first give the player a warning in chat, then if no response comes or if the illegal act continues, you may kick the player with a warning message upon their return.
-If the rule breaking continues, you should ban the player with the message “You can appeal at bit.ly/oasisf" or something of the likes as well as a brief description of what they did wrong.
-Staff may issue either a temporary ban, a permanent ban, or an IP ban, depending on the severity of the situation.
-You must then post a Convicted Players thread on the forums with their name and information included and lock it.

On a separate note: /kick and /ban are ONLY to be used for legitimate, moderating purposes. This includes Teamspeak.

b. Worldedit/Voxelsniper
Worldedit has the power to completely wreck the server. If used incorrectly, these plugins can cause massive lag and even cause the server to crash and rollback up to 10 or so hours. You MUST be fully versed in how to use these plugins. You can find wiki’s and instructions on how to use these plugins online. If you mess up, you may have your Worldedit/voxel permissions revoked. WorldEdits should not be done for any player without prior admin or owner approval.

c. /item and Selling Items
ONLY staff members may sell spawned items to other players, however; this should be done sparingly and is completely prohibited in shop world. Selling an unlimited supply of spawned items can have a huge impact on the market, and you should contact an Admin/Owner to discuss what you are wanting to sell.

d. Other Commands
/time, /send, /tp, /powertool - If you are given access to these commands, they are only to be used for legitimate purposes only, such as cleaning up griefs, catching griefers, assisting players, etc. In general, its best to assume that all commands are to be used for legitimate purposes only, no trolling.

e. Minechat
It is strongly advised that staff do not use MineChat unless it is to take care of staff-related items. This includes (but is not limited to):
- Informing other staff about being afk
- Performing quick plugin command work (I.E player promotions)
- Unbanning a player

f. Retiring
Any staff member who chooses to retire will usually be given the rank of "Retired". This constitutes mostly the same permissions as "Architect," as well as any prefix/color changes that the ex-staff member might have received in the past from donating. The retired member will be removed from Moderator/Administrator groups on the forums and TeamSpeak, and, if the staff member was an Admin, the password to the console will be changed and distributed to all remaining Admins. That player now must earn through the ranks of staff like any other player, and will not have special treatment just because they were a mod or admin beforehand. In order to become a retired player, you must ask an admin or owner, otherwise you will stay that rank and perhaps get demoted instead, due to inactivity. However, no Retired player is guaranteed a rank, the promotion is at the discretion of the staff.

g. Demotion
Demotion will occur to a staff member if one of the following things happens:

-Break ANY of the rules, especially the ones made for staff
-Consistent inactivity of three weeks or more at a time (which means you don't have to be on every day to not get demoted, just log on and play for a bit every week, and try your best to do your job during this time)

If you're going to be inactive, and are afraid of losing your staff rank, please retire or inform the staff on the forums. Tell us how long you think you'll be gone for, and you may not get demoted, depending on the circumstances. In the case of breakage of your computer, or no internet, either go to your friend’s house or your school and make a post in the staff section about it, and it will be discussed among admins what to do with you. Using MineChat to inform staff of your inactivity in-game is allowed.

If staff do not know why you are inactive, you can be demoted for inactivity. If the staff think you are inactive, one of the staff members will contact you via the forums/skype/facebook/etc. and ask why you were inactive.

Staff can be demoted by a majority admin and/or owner vote, or if an owner wants to demote you, he has the power to do so. Any staff member may be asked to retire if the Admins/Owners feel they are doing a bad job.

h. Crimes Unspecified by Rules
In the event a player is found to have committed an action deemed to be worthy of punishment but is not a technical violation of the server rules, a punishment may be issued for this offense. See section a. kicking/banning for further info. In addition to the punishment, staff will be required to amend the rules within a reasonable amount of time to reflect this previously unknown illegal action.

In the event staff discover a new player right as a result of consensus or the resolution of player disputes the server rules must be amended within a reasonable amount of time to reflect this discovery to ensure equality amongst the population.

We reserve the right to interpret the rules as we see fit.
