Work Rant Empty Work Rant

Post by mickdude2 6/18/2013, 12:30 am

I was on another server the other day and some douchebag got on and got banned. In his ban appeal, he came across as a cocky prick who expected to be appealed for who knows what reason and that made me mad. I sat thinking about this in bed for the past two hours and decided to type an angry rant here about him and expectations and working for goals... Without further interruption, Rant.

In life, I have learned a few things. Chief among them is these key facts:
Hoping gets you nothing.
Praying gets you less.
Begging makes you look like an idiot.
And expecting makes you look like a prick.

Anything you want in life you must work for. Success is not free, random, or purchasable. Anything you want you must work for. Everybody has to do it; you are not an exception by any means. Nowhere is a real place and nobodies are real people. It and they are the result of lazy people not pushing to the next objective.

I fully believe in the fact that everybody is equal at some point. Everyone starts at 0, so to speak, and must work to 5, 10, or a 100. But without work, you remain a zero. And no amount of time will change that, only if you work during that time will you change. So yes, everybody is equal. But there are people out there who have worked their ass off and know more and can do more just by that simple  fact. You are not greater than anyone by sitting around, waiting for prizes, whether those prizes be money or an unban.

Anyone you become and anywhere you go are fully up to you. Your only obstacle is yourself. You can blame your environment, your teachers, education, genes, traffic, anything. But other people deal with that. Other people go through the same shit you do. And if they somehow manage to deal with it and you can't, tough shit. Maybe this is linked somehow with this and maybe it's not. But all I know is that I am who I am and where I am because of the effort put forth by me and only me.

Nobody is entitled to an unban simply because. Nobody is that privileged to be handed everything in life. And if you were banned, it's because you worked against yourself in that incident. And if you want that unban, work for it. Reach for it. My coach once said 'The harder you work, the better it feels when you stop'.

Maybe these are just the ramblings of a mad man , maybe I'm on to something. Either way, it's late, and I'm mad.

I'm sorry, but this implies that someone can be better than someone else at some point. I don't care how much you've worked, nobody is better than anyone in my opinion. I like to treat everyone with respect and courtesy until they prove to me that they aren't a person that I would get along with by somehow wronging me, then I tend to either stay away from that person, or retaliate to their wrongings. I don't care who's appealing for what, I always give people a fair chance at redemption, no matter what they've done. People can change. But, you're right about most of that.

I think that hard work pays off, and someone who works hard is most definitely better than someone who doesn't. I'm not saying the person who works more is worth more (Don't feel like getting into that can of worms) but that they are better at whatever they worked towards.

No offence, but i'm not going to be the one to judge who's a worthier human being than another.

According to this, you can value a human life. However, I'm not getting into that. I'm saying, are you better than a person by doing more work, i.e., do you have more skill than someone just because you work at it? Well, practice does make perfect. So, in effect, someone who practices at something (in this instance, following the rules) is better than someone who doesn't.

In a separate context, do you even lift bro? No, seriously. If you lift, then you are better at it then me by default- I don't lift, and I won't fite u irl. However, I do run and I practice running and I perform regularly. So, I may be a better runner than you. Linking this back to minecraft, I'm better at following rules than this kid. Doesn't mean I'm a better person.

I define a person by an amalgam of all their inherent traits and personalities and skills. The more positive traits or skills a person has, the better I think of them. The more you practice, the more skills you develop, the better off you are as a person.

I can see how you think 'everyone is equal all the time'. It makes sense sorta. But I think someone who dedicates his life towards a goal or works hard in anything is inherently better than someone who doesn't. They have put out all their work and their reward is the ability to better secure themselves a place anywhere. Which, now that I hear myself say that, its starting to sound like you're a communist, or at least a socialist. [sarcasm]

As I said, these may be just the mere ramblings of a madman.

As much as I'm a very tolerant person towards everyone and don't really view others as inferior.  That is my personal views.  I think that the best value of person would be how much of their life and ability they contribute to a community.  How much do they improve the lives of the people around them.  If they are helping others to improve quality of those persons's lives, than that is what makes a good person in my mind.  However, I do not believe that much them more valuable than others, but would be a good indicator of such a value.

Ok, now you're seriously sounding like a communist. So, you don't think that by working a person can actually move forward and advance themselves?

I'm curious, because if you can't work to make yourself better, what can?
