Well, from a postitve perspective, a coal block would be a nice addition to both surival and creative.

Survival - You can make more room in chests, hopefully they can make it to where you can burn it in a furnace and make the duration 9X longer, since you would more than likely need 9 coal to make it, and if you want a giant, flaming torch, then this can replace Netherrack.

Creative - A black block wouldn't be ugly to use in certain builds, and perhaps it can look better than using black wool since it would, hopefully, be a solid black color.

Yes I agree, Coal block would look really nice in creative, and for survival, maybe more than 9 times as long to give people a reason to save up coal to make it, like 10 or something, and also it would be cool to act like netherrack yes :D.

And poor coal, all alone... :c
