Updates

Look, I'm getting tired of oasis always getting outdated every time a new update comes. I don't really care about bukkit I just want to play on the server. Like that time we did 1.8 temp. map. Oasis should at least make 2 servers, 1 for bukkit, and one for the update.

Uhm... You do understand that we have absolutly no control over updates. You want to play oasis? Hit the lovely "No Thanks" button you encounter when updates hit. As for your dual server idea. Why would we have a second server that we use only for around a week every 2 months? Everyone's already in a Previous update playing. No one would go on it.

What I'm trying to say is that oasis should do the temp. map like in 1.8 for every update. I'd like to try the new stuff that the update has with the people on oasis.

Lol, I don't know of you realize how hard temp maps are on staff, because you have to deal with guests. Complaining "omg stff help Plz my house was grieferd fix it" and it lags, there are no special additions like there are in bukkit

Then people would complain that their buildings were being griefed and we can't do a dammed thing about it. Temp maps are fun for like...a day.

Besides, bukkit is currently in development for 1.3. We are going to be updating once bukkit has a stable build. Just be patient. It's only been 4 days since 1.3 has been released.

And also, The wait for the official 1.3 map will be well worth it. Its like, Opening your presents christmas morning (If you celebrate Christmas). On the other hand, a temp map, is like sneaking downstairs christmas Eve, and taking a sneak peak at your presents... its just no fun ;(

This is why I do not like temp-maps. Although, a tempmap with a bukkit build would be a bit better.

The problem with a bukkit build is that ATM the builds are indev and not stable.

Everytime I join oasis I'm lucky to see 5 people online. Mostly I see 0/50 online on Oasis and I'm getting lonely -_-

Obviously everyones testing out 1.3, it would be better to get a temp...

It would not, why? Vet and Donors dont get /i, there's no WE and rollback, people bitch everytime asking when we're getting 1.3 perm, and mostly importantly, there are no name colors </3

MrZ, we had temp maps in 1.8 like you remember. But everyone hated it(except you, apparently) and then we had a vote. Temp maps lost out. So, thats that.

You're missing all the spammers and 8 years complaining about them. I always find the stupid 8 years olds more annoying in these instances.

So here's the deal, and this is how it goes.

Regardless of what we do, you guys bitch about it.

If we do a temp map, you're crying because your temporary existence of a house was griefed, or someone stole some items that you only possess temporarily. The spammers and lag issues, okay fine, legitimate complaints since we can't do shit about it on a temp map.

If we decide to not update right away until a stable build is released, you're crying because you can't wait to play with emeralds or trip wires or some other gimmick that you'll all get over within 4 days of playing the update.

So honestly, what do you want us to do.

Only the guests will be 'crying' because they don't realise it will not be able to log blocked or rolledback. We will realise that theres no plugins and not to mine diamonds and build big shit.

I'm not worried about the emeralds and trip wires, I just don't want to see the boring old '0/50' online.

I've noticed that without a temp map people bitch about this stuff less. Also, when we don't update, the griefers don't go online so it's a good time for staff to get a little break from helping the people complaining about griefs. This time waiting for bukkit to update is actually probably the best time to go on Oasis. The people who actually want to be on Oasis to have fun are on there, not the annoying spammers and griefers that have no purpose here but to annoy.
