Government Style

This post will be different from all my others, I promise. I will not complain, or argue. I'll just ask a question.

What's the government on Oasis? Is there like some kind of council? or is it a dictatorship with ariley in charge? Not that I care much- I've been playing for two months without a thought to this. I'm not trying to start a coup, just satisfy my curiosity.

Erm, I don't see it as much of a government but the staff discuss changes to be made, and then we make them. Some majors things go to Ariley for a final say, but that's about it.

Well .. i looked at this and didnt quite know how to answer it. . The lower ranks of staff.. answer to higher members of staff and andrew the higher members of staff negotiate with andrew and keep him up to date. We pretty much work on a knowledge basis (Eg. Those who know shit discuss shit and make the best decision for the server) and a common sense basis.

Form the standpoint of Political Science, the system of rule in here is most akin to an oligarchy: Rule by the few.

However, there is a voting aspect, where those in charge can bring more into charge.

I would call it a democratic oligarchy.

More like Ariley has the final say. Its more of a protectorate.

Democratic Oligarchal Dictatorship? Are'nt those oxymorons? Oligarchy is rule by a few and Dictatorship is a rule of one. How the hell does that work?

Democratic oligarchical dictatorship.

This actually fits with the way many tribal systems work:

There is an oligarchy that is elected... by, get this, the oligarchy. This means that existing members vote in new members.

However, it is still a dictatorship, because while the top person allows the oligarchy to take care of most things, in the end, his/her word is final.

I think I see your point. A more accurate historical referance would be early Imperial Rome. The senate(little power, always fighting), pro-council(a couple people who actually represent the people) and an Emporer(ariley).
