Do you need votes for vet? I'm thinking about it but not many people know me

Veteran rank is unique in how you get it compared to other ranks.

Stage 1 the staff members vote on who they want to be the Veteran Candidates, usually about 3, these are announced on promo day.

Stage 2 players vote on the forums via pm to mad on which of the candidates they want to get the rank. Most votes wins and is announced at the Next promos day. So a month of voting occurs after you are elected as a candidate.

This is what makes veteran such a hard rank to achieve, you not only need to be excellent in the staffs eyes but also very involved with the community.

To add on to that, there's no hurt in applying. If you feel like you're ready, go for it. Nothing could really go wrong, if you aren't a candidate one month, then you always have a shot for the next month.
