Environmental Endangerment [Update] Empty Environmental Endangerment [Update]

Post by Guest 2/10/2014, 4:12 am

I and other staff have warned for this in the past week, so I figured it's best to put a reference thread on this I can direct people to.

Bit.ly for this thread = bit.ly/OasisEE

Been seeing a lot of the following lately

Cobble/block Trails left around towns or portals.

Giant pillars without a purpose.

And the worst of all, Floater Trees. Especially near the portals.

------------------
Why are these things bad?
1) They're ugly, and sends the impression to new players that we don't take care of things. Like the impression you get from servers full of half-griefed houses.
2) They take staff's time and effort to remove and fix. /tree and /deltree so not work on those lovely new trees btw.
3) They serve no purpose and/or prevent players from utilizing land by clogging it with pillars, floating trees, and choppy block trails/outlines.
4) Some, if not all of these, are against our server rules.

What Should you do?
- When Harvesting wood, remove all log blocks from the tree. If the logs are gone, the leaves will eventually disappear.
-Utilize coordinates instead of leaving behind block trails. Or, make an organized road. Or, replace whatever block you're using with torches. At least torches light up the area, preventing hostile mob spawn.
-Do not make 1x1 pillars unless you 1) Plan on REMOVING IT or 2) Have an actual purpose for it that outweighs its ugliness. If it leads to nothing, it's being removed.

What's going to happen?
A few of you already have warning mail from me regarding trees. In the future, this thread will be my mail, in bit.ly form.
First Offense will be a warning message via mail, with this thread link included.
Repeated offenses will either result in short tempbans, or I will simply make you fix the problems.
Other staff can decide their own methods of enforcement.

I do not want non-staff replies on this thread, it will remain locked. If staff has things to add, they may do so.
