1st, you've only been back how long? 1 week? 2 at most. Other than those times you havent been active enough lately to know whether or not its actually a problem. Not trying to discourage you, but I do know its a problem. I KNOW the examples he gave are true.

2nd, He didnt bring false accusations to the post. He just did not remmeber them WORD FOR WORD and just gave a general run down/idea of what happen. Just because you didnt see it happen, doesnt mean it didnt! I have seen it, and I know WHO he is talking about.

I my self am one of those people and need to tone it down. So do the other players!

EDIT* And I'm glad we can agree on the rules about it. Its a starting point. Instead of bickering about WHETHER or not it happend, lets focus on the point that SOME ONE IS OFFENDED BY IT, AND WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

I have a plethora of screenshots of staff and players disregarding the rule, but I think for the sake of everyone involved,its best to keep these offenses hypothetical.

I'm sure I've slipped some innuendos and/or mild cuss words in the chat box on the server once or twice (when I actually do get on). I'm personally not too bothered by any swearing or sexual remarks, unless it's 'aggressive' towards me. However, I respect all folks on here and will from now on keep an eye on my language and behavior. Love this server and its people too much! Definitely one of the best servers around. c:

I'm just going to get this out there and over with.

1. I'm not going to change myself to make other happy. I didn't do it in life, and not doing it on the internet

2. I agree there's limits, and that lines has been crossed many of time both by myself and others.

3. There's a difference between jokes and just being a general asshole.

4. The thing with staff letting guest be douches in chat sometimes its because we're getting a good laugh out of it, and so are many of the members from their stupidity.

Matt's got a point. It happens sometimes. If you're uncomfortable with it, just /msg or poke one of the staff and we'll make sure the right thing happens. Nobody's gonna judge if you feel uncomfortable, we've got better things to do.

Just to add as a side note Grim's teamspeak name had sexual content, therefore he Is a hypocrite.

A hypocrite goes against what he is preaching.

Teamspeak is more private than the oasis chat - people have to download a program and actively try to see it. The public chat is the first thing a player will really see. His rant is directed towards the public chat, not the teamspeak chats.

If he were a hypocrite he'd be ranting about the teamspeak chat as well. Do a little research on what it means to be a hypocrite, girl.

I'm glad some people understand what I was talking about. This is not a problem of immaturity, joking, harmless sexual content or swearing. I like reynolds examples - they were perfect.

The problem on Oasis is sexual aggression.

Don't expect anyone (under 18 years old) to say when sexually aggressive "joking" has gone too far - it went too far the moment it started. There is no situation or context in life where it is appropriate to direct sexual aggression towards a child.

Well, it's true, but I've hardly seen any examples of this that i'd go so far as to call sexual aggression. All I've really seen that has been left unpunished is kids being kids. Like I said before, if people spoke up about being uncomfortable with the language being used, staff can put an end to it. If nobody does, how are we even supposed to know when the line has been crossed?

From the MPAA Website:

I feel this is the way this 'issue' really needs to be addressed. If you're being harassed or feel violated/threatened, speak up. No one will think of you any differently.

SO. I just read through this novel of a forum post and was able to gather this much.

1) apparently someone was bummed out over some of the language from both members and non members. staff included.

2) we have established that sexually explicit material towards minors and overall 'intended to be offensive' language is bad news bears.

3) Cursing is allowable in the sense of a joke IE - Reachandromeda: 'yo pax is mah main ho, goddamnit!' but not ok in this sense - Reachandromeda: 'yo pax, fuck you.'

4) all we have to do to fix this whole friggin mess is be nicer and more conscious. I think this whole thing is a little exaggerated but hey, I'm not really on all the time so i'm sure i've missed a thing or two.

5) if there are any issues or discrepancies, pm a member of our lovely staff and they will react accordingly to resolve said discrepancy.
