1.11 Development and Discussion

Hello everyone!

With 1.11 being released the staff thought we would give an official statement about it and give you the opportunity to ask everything! I'll do this in a FAQ and I'll be adding onto it as questions come in.

Q: Can I join the server with 1.11?
A: Yes you can! All our servers are accessible with 1.11 clients. However, we technically speaking haven't updated to 1.11 yet, so none of the new features are available at the moment.

Q: Why is feature [insert 1.11 feature here] not working?
A: Because technically speaking we haven't updated to 1.11 yet, we are just accepting 1.11 clients.

Q: When will I be able to play with all the fun new features, such as the shulker box and the observer block?
A: When we fully update to 1.11. We will provide the update before the end of 2016. So far we were able to provide a way for you to join with 1.11 the day 1.11 came out. But to provide a full update, there's way too many factors to make that happen.

Technical details for the interested:

Q: I would like to play with the 1.11 features on an oasis server right now, and I don't care about plugins or if my stuff gets irreversibly griefed. Can I not play on a vanilla 1.11 server?
A: No. We purposely didn't update our snapshot server, because we want to be focussing on updating the main server as much as possible. This allows us to get that server out a tad quicker, because we have more time we didn't spend on maintaining the snapshot server.

Q: Will the map reset?
A: We are still unsure. However, in the past we have done a reset every year or so. Right now this map is about that old. Furthermore, we have received word from quite a lot of players that they would like to see a reset. Because of that, we're inclined to do a reset. Nonetheless, please let us know your thoughts on what we should do!

Q: If we do reset: Will the map we available for download?
A: Yes it will! As always, we will get it up for download as soon as possible (not like last time, we'll really do it asap this time :P) so that you can enjoy the old builds for yourself!

Q: I haven't been able to play PVP for about a month now, what is going on?
A: PVP is being reworked, and it will reappear somewhere in 1.11.

Q: When will OasisZ be opened?
A: We are really really close to be able to open it, however we are purposefully delaying it until one or two months after 1.11 comes out. This is because when we opened up 1.9, we released PVP at the same time and hardly anyone played on there because everyone was distracted with the new SMP. We would love for you to try out OasisZ, and are thus delaying it slightly.

Q: What is OL and when will it open?
A: What it is exactly will remain a secret until we open up 1.11, because that's when OL will be released.

um... on my post you said for all my questions. does not answer all my questions my question is rev said theres snap shp. snapshot is not working. any help

We chose to not run a snapshot server this time around as we feel it would be better to have released a dedicated 1.11 with plugins instead. Sorry for any inconvenience!

I apologise as it appears I was mistaken! I thought the snapshot server was currently running 1.11. My bad! In the mean time as has been said before, you can join the regular server IP with a 1.11 client, the new features just aren't active... yet... ;)

It sucks to reset the map but hey I like to start new and enjoy using my mind to think of new thing to build a start fresh so another +1 for map reset

This will mark the third spawn I will have missed exploring. A shame. I always liked spawn.
