I always preferred default pack. If I build something it's there for other people to see, I like to see it the same way others do. Shader mods are quite snazzy though.

I personally like Vattics Faithful it makes Minecraft look much more realistic it pretty much textures everything to look smooth and really cool.

Interestingly enough they don't burst into flame...I was waiting to take a pic of that.
