Lovebird Mystery Empty Lovebird Mystery

Post by simbalvr123 6/19/2014, 2:29 pm

So, this year i bought two lovebirds. They survived the entire school year, but mysteriously dissapeared. One dissapeared the other night, the other Last Night. They live in an outdoor aviary made of wire 1'' thick. So Im asking Oasis cause i have no where else to turn,

What got my lovebirds, and how?

EVIDENCE: 1. Well the other night both lovebirds were still there when i checked on them. Yesterday morning one was gone. Only evidence of disappearance? Feathers on the ground. No body, no other evidence.

2. This morning i went to check on my birds to find that now there were MORE feathers, and another Love bird gone. Just like with the first lovebird, No body, no other evidence.

Please help us solve this mystery, I'm so Stuck! and so sad. ;-;

Did you find any breakage of the wire because something like a hawk or owl could've clawed threw the wire.The birds might've also found a way to escape that you couldn't see and them escaping could've caused them to squeeze threw that it had made feathers fall of.

Lovebird Mystery Empty Lovebird Mystery

Think I figured it out:
It is either a

1. Racoon: because their claws are long enough to grab a bird inside and can climb the wire
-Or-
2. Snake: explaining the feathers on the ground and no body, perhaps it swallowed them whole? *shudder*

Please post your ideas on this. which is it? ;-;

I wouldn't think a raccoon would go for some birds however they are omnivores so if it was really hungry it might. A snake is a definite possibility. Other possibilities would be hawks, owls, falcons, foxes or cats. All of them wouldn't leave the bodies there they would take them to a safe spot (sorry) to eat.

Lovebird Mystery Empty Lovebird Mystery

Thanks, Mega i was thinking the same thing. We live near a wash so its possible a snake could have gotten to them. or a hawk could have swooped in and got them too. we don't see very many owls but you never know. My grandma has a fish pond and her fish are attacked regularly by raccoons, so she said if a raccoon can get a fish from a deep pond, it can get a bird in an aviary ;-;

thanks to everyone for your help with this
