I am like, annoyed at pokemon xD

So, I finished my studies at C2 tutoring, and my brother was still not done, so I left to the bookstore next door. I saw an absolutely gorgeous gameboy (original) with an intact battery cover, ridiculously loud and beautiful sound still working, and well. A screen cover. I mean, the purple outline is still intact. The cover itself appears to have a deep scratch on the side (kinda looks like the scratch in the lasser glass from oculus) so I bought it. The only game I had for gameboy original was Pokemon Yellow, I was able to use my uncles gameboy for a few years, but then I couldn't so I had to use a gameboy advance SP.

 So, anyway, when I put in pokemon yellow I know for sure I had a save file because I used it on my Lake Tahoe trip. I played used my old file but saved and turned off because it was too dark. I wasn't sure if my game saved all the way tho... Being the original it was dark, as expected. Then it loaded and then the game decided to be a total troll

When I saw that I immediately put it back in my SP to try and figure if it was a dead battery....or naaahhh so I start a new game, save then turn off. I come back and the save file is there and working. Not a dead battery, but corrupted files. Not sure what caused it, but I'm pretty sure it's not the gameboys fault, orisitbagel orisitevilbirchtroll

3rd gen you could start the clock at the beginning of the game by setting the time in your bedroom. (hoenn)

Berries stop growing, daily handouts are only given once in the file's lifetime, and you can't evolve day/night-dependent pokemon. Well, maybe you can, but it's probably stuck on whatever time you set the clock in your room in the beginning of the game to X_X so to get all the day-evolvers (espeon, etc) to evolve it needs to be permanently stuck on AM. You'd have to restart the file and stick it on PM to evolve an umbreon v-v. I haven't tested this yet :\

Also, you can't play the lottery more then once, the rooftop sales in lillycove never take place, you can't find/visit mirage island, and shoal cave's tide is permanently frozen at whatever time you stuck it to.

Yeah internal battery life is the only thing wrong with the old Pokemon games today. I've played sapphire with a dead battery and it did hinder gameplay to a degree. I know there is ways to open up the games and replace the battery but you need the right tools. (triangle bits are hard to come by)

Not really actually, I know for a fact lukiegames has them on their website for only 3.5$ + tax with the CR batteries (of many different kinds) but the shipping tho :/  1.99$ shipping

But yeah, to further say what has been said, just like everyone else on the internet, those internal batteries were the one downfall of the older games. Well, that and the lack of good lighting. And graphics. And plotline. And memory. And letters permitted to a word (Example: Name: Fir Lizer, the most common name for a  Charizard ever).

When you think about it, we as kids just accepted all that glory as it was. Long live the 90's!

Aka a very ugly enhancement that clips on your gameboy and adds a flashlight like square thing that magnifies and is right in front of your screen ._. It's ugly, but it's lighting.

^^^ I also had one of those magnifier light case things for my gb color. I lost some of the pieces so I replaced it with a bendy light that plugs into the trade port. Ah nostalgia.... There have been some many great changes to gaming over the years but the inner child always yearns for the classics.

This thing obviously wasnt THAT ghetto. Let me put it this way. I grew up poor enough that instead of buying new batteries for my gameboy my stepdad (whos an electrician) did this thing that made it so my gameboy would last 10 times longer than if he left it as it was. Let me tell you, THAT looked ghetto. Imagine a gameboy with the back cover off of it with a few scrap pieces of wire jammed into it. Not even a legit looking gameboy either, one with the see through plastic, makes me smile just thinking about it. Damn, being a kid was magical!

 This was before living with him and having my very own fouton all to myself, btw XD

Gotta love dat nostalgia bug. I would have killed to have a brighter screen at that time! Y'all were lucky!

*Gramps voice* Back in my day you could count the bits on your fingers and toes. We didn't have all of your fancy polygons, we had pixels and we were happy. We didn't have quick time events or them branching storylines we had hard gameplay and only a choice of p1 and p2. Also we had non of that why fly multiplayer online stuff, if you wanted to play multiplayer you needed to go to a friends house and pull out the second controller and the link cables.

(but seriously though there has been alot of good enhancements to the games we love today)

*Voice of God* O rly now? I had to make my OWN video games. Birch plz, I invented Sims. I called it life. Try billions of years in load time. Im afraid to turn my console off cuz then I'll have to sit through it ALL over again.  All you mortals are lucky, living in todays day and age...
