Hello! And if you can't guess from the title today I celebrate a whole:

2 YEARS!

OF OASIS SMP! (AND MINECRAFT!)

Yep, October 27th, the day I first got myself a minecraft account, and the day I hit that join server button with the oasis IP in the server box.

Alert Alert, High Nostalgia And a Lengthy Paragraph explaining my 2 years of oasis below!

Once upon a time, on a minecraft server not so far away, I arrived during the 1.8 Beta map to Oasis SMP. At this point I was considering giving up on multiplayer because all I could find were rubbish servers where everything was protected because people had claimed that land, but not only that, everything looked like a warzone. I thought to myself that I'll try 1 more server before I go to single player forever :P I joined Oasis and my whole perception of Minecraft Multiplayer changed. I met some great people almost instantly who welcomed me to the server. I built a house and had a great time. By almost the next day when I joined Oasis again, it was completely different. (This was clearly a map change for the release of Minecraft 1.0, and it was a TEMP MAP *cringes*, but I didn't know any of this). I assumed that servers changed a lot and was really annoyed that my house had gone. But nethertheless I started another house. I met a few of the staff members such as Wesley, Abbey and Taccy who all helped me out during this temp map. (Although I can't remember if you were staff yet taccy, I know you were guide in the next map but s there were no ranks in the temp map I can't remember :I). Anyways, they all helped me a lot and I met a lot of good friends who mostly have left oasis now. This temp map was of course Abbey's Bedrock Castle map. And what better spawn to have when there is no protection than a Bedrock and Obsidian one?!?!? It actually looked really nice considering the limited materials XD. But yeah, after the temp map we got a proper map for 1.1. This map had the spawn of Nova's library and the eco-dome full of zombies :P. (This is one of the main spawns today's current map is based on!) This was a great map for me, not the best but definitely second best! I got into the concept of ranks and managed to get myself [Member]. I was so happy that my member app had been approved that I went and built a shelter for the griefed opposite Taccy's palace which is now the spawn to Sky Rock. I lived under the shelter and was really happy in that map. I met a lot of people like Vampiresfire who have now left and lots of today's current staff as well as some who have now retired / left / been banned. After this map was the map ten thousand different maps for 1.2. I think that we had at least 6 different maps between 1.2 and 1.2.5. I cant remember all the spawns but they involved tunnels, lava, water spirals and much much more. Eventually we arrived at the best map ever, 1.2.5. This was Taccy's tree spawn map (Which also is part of our current spawn :P). In this map so much happened. Grief House returned after a long time, Wave Survival started, Taccy retired from being Mod, Abbey got Admin from Mod and I think people such as Madsci were Mod. (Maybe even guide, I can't remember quite right). Anyway, I applied for grief house and got turned down so I set to work on Snow Town V1. It was a rather small town but it was here I met people such as Maarten, Matimuts and many other people who aren't on much anymore. I also saw WS appear on the forums and jumped at the opportunity to help out a minigame. I got accepted and was really happy! We made the first 2 maps which were Apocalypse and Medieval and that is where Kevo left to spend more time staffing and I became the head of WS. I was really honoured considering I was only a member. I shortly after this got Trusted and then the minigame prefixes came in. [WS][Trusted]Ollie (As we were allowed nick names then!). That was a very long map and loads of people told me to apply for Veteran so I did. I was so surprised with all the support I got, after all I was only a trusted player and them getting veteran was pretty much unheard of. I actually managed to get veteran candidate in the next promotions and was overwhelmed. I was so happy and excited, I remember literally jumping around my room, literally!. 1.2.5 here ended and 1.3 began. 1.3 was the first map with Abbey's gigantic, tremendously huge castle spawn. It was also in this map, sometime in August when I was on holidays in Spain that Intengent said "Gratz rev", and I said for what? And he said "You are Veteran for this month aren't you?" I was really surprised and thought he was pulling my leg because no one had promoted me yet and there wasn't anything on the forums, but next time a staff member high enough to promote came on, I think it was Abbey, I was promoted to Veteran and well, words cannot describe my happiness at that. I really felt like I had achieved something and made it my mission to try and make oasis a better place. I helped out everyone around me and enjoyed every second of it. 1.4 Was the map of Revilo Island and The Revilotel and 1.5 was The Map of Redstone World, but other than that I can't remember making very much. I came on oasis mainly to talk to the great community. And here we are in 1.6, almost 1.7! The map of my biggest ever project. I hope to finish Quevilo Palace during 1.7 and I hope that that will be my biggest ever building achievement. 

Thank you all for making this 2 years so great for me. I'm sorry I have been a bit inactive recently but its my exam year and I'm having problems with school vs free time. I hope to resume my proper activity ASAP but atm its not going to be that soon.

I applaud you if you read all of that but if not I sorta understand why... haha.

Congratulations rev, so cool reading all these things, hearing about all these people I've never seen, amazes me you and a few people have stayed along for the ride.

Congratz on 2 Years.  It is so nice hearing about all these things, but after hearing about this stuff, it is a little heartbreaking.  I was on for a LONG time before doing pretty much ANYTHING other than mining and gathering.  I didn't bother to make friends with all the awesome people that I hear so much good things about back then.  I guess since it was my first minecraft server, and my 1st time playing non-Peaceful, that I just was a bit too shy.  

But anyway, Gratz on 2 years, and I am glad to hear about all these fantastic memories of yours!

I was a part of GH and had been since about 1.4, but last time I went down my name had been removed from the doors and no one seems to know what's happening with GH except you so can you please PM on the forums about what is happening with GH currently :)

Gratz on 2 years rev! Though I'm just a measly T+ and don't know you very well, from what I have seen of you, you're a very nice guy and helpful. So gratz!

Congratulations on the 2 year effort, I remember you were trusted for like 8 months before you got noticed or something in 1.2.5? haha

Just a quick funny spanish lesson. If you leave out the accent in 'años' as you spelt 'anos' it means anus instead of years hahahahaha. Just another one pulled out of the hat: if you say 'soy' (I am) 'soy embarazada' it doesn't mean I am embarrassed, it means I'm pregnant!

Congrats on 2 years, Rev! To be honest, based on your previous repertoire, I find it very hard to believe that Quevilo Palace be your biggest thing you build on Oasis, let alone Minecraft itself. Youv'e done great work on this server in your time, so kudos to you, my friend. Devotion such as yours is lost upon me, who only joined in 1.4.
