Your idea 1: Tomb raiding. Graveyard, with graveplots/stones made up, with chests (coffins) underneath. Some of the chests would have bones, some rare things, and some of the spaces where chests are supposed to be will actually have a mob inside or something...
Or have the spaces without chests filled with spawners that people will have to find and destroy. Some could even be hidden inside the gravestones.
A mini church or something might be nice too... full of more things to raid *-*
