Colored lamps for Oasis

Hello everyone!

While walking home, i had an idea. How would the players of Oasis feel about colored lamps in MC?
I don't know if everyone is familiar with the Red Power Mod (most of you might know it from Tekkit), but that mod has exactly what i am talking about.

The lamps are just as the normal redstone lamps, but they have a different color, depending on the type of dye used. You can have, yellow, red, green, blue lights etc.

As we have some people that are good with figuring out how mods work and how to build them their selves *cough* Pax and Mad *cough*, i was wondering if it is possible to take the lamps from the Red Power Mod and make it a custom lamps mod, just for us on Oasis.

Something like that would look great imo. Having different kinds of lamps hanging everywhere would certainly make build look even more interesting!

Red Power uses some other materials for the lamps, that would make the lamp making process a bit too tedious. So i was thinking of using this as a recipe (in this example we're trying to make a yellow lamp):



By changing the dyes, we change the color of the lamp. The lamps would need a redstone signal to work, just like the lamps we have in MC right now.

how do you guys feel about this idea? Pax and Mad, do you have time to work on something like this? And do you even want to work on something like this?

I would love something like that Adirem! But there is a problem with that. We would have to make 2 plugins! One for the bukkit server. And one for the minecraft client. And for any one to connect to oasis, they would need the client mod. Which I dont think we would want that. Dont get me wrong I would love to try and tackle that when I get better at coding plugins. But its not for us. A lot of our members dont know how to apply for membership on our forums, much less install mods in minecraft. Our target audience is much too young to expect something like that.

Maybe in the future when we can afford a second server we could do one that has mods like that. But right now I dont see it happening anytime soon.

Its a great idea, and I am for it just so you know. But I wouldnt be able to code something like that atm.

I like the idea but I am 150% against oasis becoming a modded server

unfortunately, it looks like this is impossible without a huge overhaul; locked.
