The Griefer Duality

In my experience there are two types of griefers the first type could be described as a malicious figure while the second could be described as a ignorant figure. To elaborate, the malicious figure knows exactly what they are doing and the displeasure it causes to others but proceed for that reason. This figure often as no intention of staying in a single place for an extended period of time and therefore a ban is necessary but meaningless to this figure because they did not plan on sticking around for to long in the first place.

The second figure who is ignorant is unaware of of their actions just as a newborn babe dose not understand reality as we do nor dose the ignorant figure understand the reality propagated by the community. The fact the ignorant figure exists at all suggests this figure desires to become part of the community but lacks the prerequisite skills to do so successfully therefore when the ban comes they are often confused or angry for they do not understand.

The question i am posing to the community is if the second figure has a right to exist and be educated just as a newborn does?

We give out warnings before bans, and all new members should take the time to read the rules. Number 1 is obviously the most important, and if the ignorant member doesn't know what griefing is, it's up to them to find out if they want to stay on Oasis.

Don't first offenders only get temp-ban? or i'm completely wrong

BTW ur on a slippery slope here. Pretty soon people will be talkin abortion and pro-choice/pro-life issues with the whole newborn baby thing. not gonna comment on that.

How in the hell are we gonna go from destroying pixels on a video game, to destroying an unborn fetus in real life? lol.

with temp bans it depends, if someone comes on the server and the first thing they do is grief then chances are they will be perma banned, as they clearly have no intention of playing nice.

Now as for the types of griefer, well most will be the 1st one, just out to annoy people and in some cases ignoring them will make them go away as they aren't getting a reaction, but this Never happens as someone always takes the bait, especially when it's not so nice things in chat, when this happens best thing to do is take a screenshot and post on the forum.

With the 2nd one, is different as most the time they know they have done wrong just don't know that we know and can check by using plugins such as LB and kids being kids will try to lie about it (no offence meant at all to anyone here) also theres the 'play dumb' card. As we try to treat everyone it makes it hard to tell the difference between those that generally trying to fit in, but aren't understanding what they are doing is wrong and those that know, but are just trying to play us and just playing dumb.

If everyone was genuine then we wouldn't have a problem, but given that there's always that guy, it's a little more difficult.

We want everyone, who is willing to play nice to have a good and enjoyable experience, but we don't want to be played or made to look like fools, because of this we account everyone for their own actions.
