Server-Wide "Target" Empty Server-Wide "Target"

Hey guys. At lunch today, my friends were talking about Something that got my attention.

They said that the entire 7th grade at another school were playing a big game of "Target" or something like that. I never got the actually got the name of the game.

The concept of the game is each person is assigned someone to "assassinate". Now, this could go anywhere from shooting a paintball gun, to stabbing them with a prank push blade. One of them so I've heard got really creative and wrote "Poison" on a bag of chips and offered one to his target. When his target ate a chip, he got out. The winner recieves 5 dollars from everyone else, and that adds up to about $100.

I was thinking, with the staff's ok of course, if Oasis could play our own version of this. If the staff does give it an ok, I'll make a post with the plan in it. If they don't, then we're not going to.

Any thoughts?

I really like this idea, so long as it's not just... run up and wack em with a sword. If people had to come up with unique traps to kill their target, that would be more interesting. There is also the issue of people carrying hard-to-get materials in their inventory (ie: Diamonds, redstone, tons of iron, enchanted bow) and then loosing it all because they were killed by the other player.

Well I think this is a great idea! If you could make it work, I'm game!

Oh yeah, Don't bring this to Stans, the teachers there won't appreciate it.

You just summed up what I was gonna put in the plans.
The idea for rules are:
NO DIRECT KILLING
Ie: lava-ing, pushing off cliff, bow snipe, sword slash, shovel wack, hoe stab, etc

Signing up will mean agreement of no suspects responsible or lost items.

All killing must be done by traps or chain reactions.
By chain reactions I mean like breaking a block beneath a players feet that makes them plummet.

TELEPORT IS ACCEPTABLE
But only to a strict limit.

Any direct killing will result, like otherwise, a ban.

I know who signs up. I know who is pursuing whom, and who is being pursued by whom.
If 2 and 2 don't add up at a possible elimination, your being banned.
Ie: blaming a murder on the game.

More are going to be added, but this is generally what's gonna happen.

Seems a different idea, especially as we don't have PvP enabled.

I assume the idea is to actually kill them?

else it will be just a case of smacking them with a sword (which would be quite boring to be honest).
poisoning food isn't really an option in game.

setting unique death traps would be nice to see, though this would have to be within the "no griefing rules" - i.e. you couldn't go to where they live and put lava behind the door or make their "hidden passage way" do something else. (unless ofc they have agreed for their property to be modified for the purpose of the game). That being said, it would have to be a trap and not just destruction of their builds.

A couple of things to add would probably be.

those that can - no god mode at any point during the game. - clear to why this would be in place
those that can - no teleporting at any point during the game. - this is to make things fair, would also stop people from placing water at the /home (if they fell into fire) or /home when falling. (both would stop them from dying) - which i assume is the point of the game?

reason for no teleporting is because there is always one person who claims they didn't know, or pushes it to the absolute limit on what is allowed by the "rules". i.e. they /home or /tp before the lava hit them so it was ok.

A clear no /tp or /warp or /home (yes you would have to mention all 3, because someone will say i didn't /tp i /home). If you do allow it and disqualify someone and they didn't know, or were just tping to the limit set by the rules, then there will be complaints about how it was un-just or un-fair. - giving a clear no XX means if they do, they know and don't really have an augment.

of course IF this were to go ahead the rules would be agreed upon who ever was playing at the time or a standardise set by the initial few. The above is just a suggestion really.


With the RL version of the game, is it me, or can anyone else see something like this going horribly wrong?

Well dyna, the traps can be In creative places.
Say your target is a friend of your and your mining.
If your a Redstone expert, you'd make a quick trap for them to walk over.
If your mining/adventure is scedualed, (failed spelling) even better.
As you said, any forms of /tping and godmode would result in disqualification.
And like you said once more,grieving, like any other oasis day, is unacceptable.

Yeah, I see a lot of detentions in you're future, zack. But what worries me most is that he's coming to my Alma Mater grade school, and the teachers will come down hard on his ass. Stop as soon as you come to Stans.

We've never had more than 18. That was in first grade. It's been declining ever since.

You ARE in sad shape. And to think that you were going to be the leaders of you're school next year. From what I've heard, the kids in class are immature and have no common sense.

sorry for the late reply.

There are a few things we have mentioned that might prove an issue with this game, but a solution was given.

If a player gets killed, they are out (this is a given). But what about a player who was offline at the time of that players deaths, comes on and succeeds in killing him. This would probably cause an augment.

So, adding something along the lines of... your at risk of being killed at any point during the game until only 1 player is left? ... meaning if you get killed more then once don't complain.

Other then that, there is no reason why this can't go ahead.

However the trapping and killing of a non game playing player.. will be dealt with.

I was thinking the same thing in school today.
I settled with the fact that your disqualified if you remain offline/refuse to move or block yourself off.
It is required that you go about doing what you would do on a normal oasis day.

Precisely. That is why I am making it necissary for every contestant to make a post on the topic that has the setup confirming every kill. Before people go out to kill people, they need to check the forums.
