alcohol before 21

Do you think its fine to drink alcohol before the age of 21? there are alot of people doing it now and i just want to see how many think this is alright.

I just drank a bunch tonight, and you know how old I am. For those of you who don't, I am 19.

I don't have a problem with it, as long as you don't get shitfaced drunk knowing that you will be a dumbass and ruin everyone elses fun. If you drink as a social thing with friends just to have a good time, then hey, why not?

And the original reason for the drinking age being 21 in the US is that historically, one had to be 21 to become an official adult, vote and be knighted. For part of the 20th century, it was lowered to 18 by some smart people. The only reason that it is 21 now is because of groups such as mothers against drunk driving.

So you have your parents to blame for that.

But seriously, it's not hard to get alcohol, and you have to be a dipshit to get caught with it.

yeap, alcohol at 16 but that counts for whine and beer (and other drinks with a low alcohol percentage).
but in my oppinion age has nothing to do with it. i've seen kids be more mature with handling alcohol then people that are nearing their 30's.

people just need to know their limits when it comes to drinking and drugs, but the only way to find out what the limit is, is to go too far ;)

18 is legal drinking age here.

Should it be younger - it can be if it's at home.

Couple years ago it was legal for anyone over, i believe 14 to drink it, as long as it was with a meal... but that got changed to 18 couple years back, personally it all depends on where your from, some places don't have a legal age and even have alcohol vending machines in the streets.

The main issue with putting an age of drinking (least from what i have seen) is abuse, those countries where there is a drinking age have alot more alcohol abuse then those that don't.

For example, if you were to but that alcohol vending machine in most places in england, it would be trashed and emptied within a couple of days and probably by those that can't legally buy it yet.

People seem to get a high on doing stuff that they aren't suppose to do, where as if you made it so they are allowed then when they do drink too much they look silly rather then someone who has done something good...

so yeah, it's a hard call to say if a the drinking age is too high and it depends on what you have been told rather then what you think, for example i think 21 is too old, but many of you may think 18 is too young, yet most places in europe (not england) will think 18 is far too old as most don't have a legal age, as such, to drink.

Most nightclubs will have an age limit, but that isn't to drink that's just to get in.

18yo = Alcohol of any kind of %.

i had my first beer around the age of 18 when i joined the military i never had any problems just dont drink till your so messed up the cops have a reason to stop you and if you do it in your own home whos to know? in my opinion if you are old enought to sign up for the military and go die for your country your old enough to have a cold one every now and then

Well guys, i must say, germany is pretty cool when it comes to alcohol ^.^
i'm 16 now, and it's easy for me to get any alcohol i want. beer is atleast legal for me to drink, but even wodka, or grog, whatever i want, is easy to get here.
actually no one cares about it at all, sometimes i see 14year old guys drinking alcohol....
i must say, it should really be fpr 16 years old and above, because many of the younger people dong know how to deal with alcohol at all, so they just drink too much. if you drink, you should know your limit.

It does have it's downsides, but it can be a good way to chill out with some friends and meet people as well. it only really goes wrong when drinking becomes a "need" or when someone drinks to excess.. if you know your limits it is fine.

To be honest i go months where i don't drink, cause i don't want to, if you drink too much too often, it can ruin your health as well oh and your bank balance.

Yeah, I'm an underage drinker, too. Go College! WOOOOOO!
