It's been five whole years...

...since I became a registered member on the Oasis SMP forums. I joined the community because everybody made me feel super welcome and everything was really great (even if the server was super laggy, which it was back then!)

Oasis has changed my life for the better. Never in a million years did I think I'd be writing this post. One year? yeah. Two years? maybe. But five whole years? This is my five year anniversary of joining Oasis and I couldn't be happier. Technically, my actual "join date" was February 7th 2011 but I didn't know about the forums until a couple days later. I applied, and it was all history from there. I was promoted to member by Mr. Ariley92 himself (I even got the traditional kick for it!), attained Trusted status within a few weeks, and then progressed through the ranks albeit a bit slower than the rest of the community. None of this bothered me though. I loved the community, I loved playing and building and making new friends, and I thoroughly enjoyed making new memories.

I've made so many friends over the years through Oasis and quite honestly I've loved every minute of it. This community is one of the finest I've ever seen (and I've seen many communities!) and every day as we get new members and players it makes me smile. It makes me smile because back when I first started, I was a noob and I joined SMP out on a whim. I was bored with singleplayer MC and wanted to try the multiplayer portion. And it was the best f**king choice I've ever made.

You guys are the bomb. And by "you guys" i really mean "the ladies and gents of the Oasis SMP community including the playerbase AND the staff both former and current."

This place is amazing. This community is amazing. Now it's time for me to say what I really want to say, rather than to just beat around the bush and inflate this post.

I just wanted to let you all know that I am eternally grateful for all of the Oasis SMP community and her many staff, both current and former.
If it was not for that fateful day back in February 2011, I do not think you nor I nor Oasis would be here in all her glory today.
My life has changed so much and Oasis is the best family away from family. I love all of you like a father loves his children. You are all so damn special to me.

This server really has come a long way. It's great to know that we have two great people help run it and all sorts of other great people help moderate it. Not to mention most of the players that stick around are the types of people that would stick with you through things to the very end.

You are right about the server not being the same if you did not stick around for the ride. The server wouldn't be nearly as awesome as it is today. 

This really is a big milestone. Not just for you, but for all of us.
