welcome command - /welcome Command? Empty /welcome Command?

Me and a few others would like a /welcome command. Would it be possible to integrate it into the server? Maybe the message could be:

Welcome to Oasis SMP! Please read the rules and have fun!

Just a suggestion XD

Welcomes shouldn't be robotic. Imagine if you joined a server and you got the same welcome message 5 times. It would be lame and you would know it's not sincere.

^Osga pretty much said it all, if you feel you actually want to welcome someone to the server, make it interesting.

Something like this is just too simple in add. And Osga hit it right on the nose. We dont want an automated welcome msg! That was the thing that got me to stay here, and I hear that from all the other players too. Its the warm welcoming of the community that brings them back each day.

I completely agree with Osga and Pax. How it is now, it gives everyone the freedom to personalize their welcome message like what I, Lovelychick, and Birdiebug do. Even though we usually say the same thing each time, it is personalized and not the same as everyone else's.
