The tale of Chaos.

This is pretty long, but it's important you read it all.

- When I first got here, 7 months ago, this place was very different. The people, of course, were different, as was the overall feel of being on the server. I was welcomed with open arms, everyone seemed so nice. The first staff interaction I had was with Nova, who was then a Guide. He was nice, seemed smart, and was an all-around nice guy. Even though I was new, I could tell, this server will be my new home.
On my second day on the server, I donated $50. Even when I was giving money to the server, people would congratulate me. It was a great feeling. I felt accepted.
I continued to play, and started to make friends. My first friend on the server, was Cierte. He showed me around, gave me some tips, and helped me build a bit. We became fast friends, even to the point of campaigning for each other when it came time for one of us to become Guide (We'll get to that in a bit). After Cierte, I met SnowNinja, we traveled and built quite a few things together. My next friends where Scottsdog and Biohazard. They were younger than me, but were mature, and still fun. We had many good times talking on skype, and just messing around on the server. Then ImBear and NovaTactics joined the server, they were great fun as well. Many of these people started dropping out of the server. I was becoming a more recognized member of the server, and the staff were taking notice. I hopped on TeamSpeak, and became good friends with Wesley and Sinical. Saetan would come to warm up to me later. The rest of the staff slowly fell in line, and we all became friends. Even among the "In-fighting", the staff actually liked each other.
After a few months, I felt that I had responsibility, more than that of a regular member. I wanted to be staff. I didn't think that everyone felt I was ready yet. So I applied for Veteran. I received many vouches, but it still didn't feel right. One night, Leagle approached me in game, and let me know, he and a few other staff, felt I'd make a good Guide. I then decided to apply early that morning, then go to bed. Upon waking and checking the forums, I was surprised by the number of vouches I receive, even one from Ariley. Going back to the story of Cierte and I, we were both running for Guide. We thought that only one of us would get it, and we each wanted the other to win. To both of our surprises, we both got it. It was a glorious day, and everyone was so supportive.
A month passed. I was doing well as a Guide, I had the respect of many. I grew to think of the server as somewhat of "My own".
The server was changing, not for the bad, and not for the good, just....Changing. The people, the maps, the feel, as well as Minecraft itself. I grew...well, attached to the server. I was on A LOT, possibly too much. My social life and school work was starting to be effected. I was in denial, I continued to play, hard. The promotions came up, and I got promoted to Mod. Things were pretty great.
The next few months were filled with fun times, and even more change. Fast forward to now.
I'm in college, doing better in my work, I'm hanging out with my friends more. I know why, I've known for some time now, but I've been to selfish to admit it. My recent inactivity of the past month or so hasn't been "school work" as I've said. I've had plenty of time to get on the server, plenty of time to discuss things with staff, plenty of time to meet new members, and plenty of time to continue to talk to old friends on the server. My inactivity is none the fault of school, friends, or lack of time...it is that of not wanting to be on the server. Not wanting to be on Minecraft period. I wouldn't say I've "neglected" my duties as staff, but I have indeed not fulfilled them to the best of my ability, nor do I plan on it. It's been an amazing 7 months here guys, and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but now it's time that .....
I respectfully step down from staff.
I'm sorry for making this so long, I just wanted you all to know how I feel.
This server is literally the best, and I hope you guys continue to grow, and become even better.
It's been great Oasis, keep it classy.
I'll be sure to stop in from time to time.

I so agree with the changing stuff as I have been here just as long although much less active in the Oasis community. I just all feels so different now but I can't see what has changed. Sad to see you step down from staff as I always though you did a great job as an Oasis staff member. Hope you can became an active member once again someday.

Im not going to lie, I miss the old player base, you being one of the really good staff members (hence, part of the old player base). Ill miss you as staff chaos, you did a really good job. Im starting to feel like this is SeaTan stepping down all over again... No offense to the current player base, but I miss the old ones. Also, its not a bad thing that you have not been on. Life is more than minecraft, for me, minecraft is not a priority at all, there are much more important things. No need to apologize, you do not have too, its not like any of us had a period like that, but I will miss you. Good luck, enjoy life, finish school.

No worries man, it happens. I can empathize with pretty much everything you've written there and completely understand.
I wish you the best of luck in college and whatever other endeavors you go into.

Heh, i remember when you first joined, you were very quiet, now look at you, a mod..
I know what you mean, life is always more important than games. It's never good to see someone getting out, but it has to happen someday. I'm going to miss you bro, and i really hope to see you stepping in sometimes in the server.

chaos i hope you have a bright future and tbh you were kinda of a role model to me even though it was only the internet. I hope everything goes your way in the future and best of luck!

I understand your reason Chaos. When I first joined, I was playing 3-4 hours a day, almost every day. Slowly that decreased as I lost interest. I understand and respect your honesty.

I think that it's not just the new players that changed, but the staff and supportive players (Veterans, artisans etc) that changed too. I used to hobnob with the new players a lot in my prime, for they were the meat and potatos of the server. The staff also liked to meet the new players, sometimes keep tabs on them, but liked to mess around and get to know them. It's not that the staff are bad, they just don't take the time to meet new players anymore. But, i'll contradict myself here... I am the exact same way. Somehow a lot of the 'supportive players' have grown to like and recognize me for some reason and I think that I started ignoring the newer players recently. Intengent is like, the only member/trusted that I know (or can remember on the spot) and he's not even that new!
Bah, look at me. I've ranted two paragraphs and now nobody will read it. Oh well. For the few that do read it what I want you to learn from this is to respect the new players, even if they seem immature and stupid, because we've all been that way at some point. It just takes a little kindness to get someone out of that cycle.

I'll really miss ya Chaos. We've had some great times, please try to stop by once in a while and say hi. Damn, that's Cierte, Sae, Sinical, and you retired. Funny how fast things change.

Dear my friend chaos, you were a great friend and staff to oasis and we had many jokes and such. You were always really nice and funny now its your time to shine like chaos was meant to be in the world. Check in from time to time.
