Computer Processors Empty Computer Processors

Post by J8cob1 10/30/2011, 12:09 am

I am interested in possible considering a new computer. The question is: Do I get an Intel Sandy Bridge Generation 2 processor, wait for AMD's Bulldozer processors, or wait for Intel's Ivy Bridge Processors? I am looking some oppinions please, some helpful articles, or maybe a release date for AMD's and Intel's new Processors. Thanks!

Hmm. thats a tuffy! Depends on what you like. The bulldozer is coming out in a couple levels, each of them are over 200$ if im not mistaken, and the 2nd gen sandy bridges are fanomanal as is, so, take your pick, haha.
Bulldozer=More cost, more perf.
2nd Gen Sandies=Less cost, not necisarily less perf. just a little less for the money

If you want a nice, high-end processor, go with Intel. They run cool but they are also more expensive than their AMD counterparts. If you want a cpu with raw power behind it then get an AMD. They are much cheaper and (in my experience) easier to overclock, assuming you get a third-party cpu cooling fan. If you can, find an AMD AM3+ board so that you can use Bulldozer when it comes out. Intel's Ivy Bridge isn't slated to come out until next year, I believe. I don't know of many motherboards that are Ivy Bridge-ready yet, and if there are some that exist, they are probably pretty pricey.

Hope this helped.

Wait for the new AMD's, and aim for water-cooling so you can overclock it to hell and back.

Thanks for the advice! I must say though, I do not plan on overclocking, being honest, I feel like I would screw it up if I overclocked it so no overclocking for me.

What the hell would you do with an 8 core processor over clocked by 30%?
Better question.....What wouldn't you do?
