So I figured out how big the map is.

"But saeTan, the map isn't that big!" Bullshit.

Minecraft was designed so that each block is one cubic meter, or just about three cubic feet. Your character is about 5.9 feet, or just under three meters tall.

The spawn coordinates are not X: ±0 Z: ±0, but are X: +3 Z: +33. The border North, directly from spawn is located at X: -3997 Z: +33, and South is X: +4002 Z: +33.

3997 + 4002 = 7999, plus the one block at spawn is 8000. The border is a square, so the border dimensions are 8000 x 8000 meters, or 2400 x 24000 feet. Since the metric system actually makes sense, there are 1000 meters in a kilometer, the borders are 8 x 8 kilometers. There's a strange number of feet in a mile, but the borders come out to approximately 4.5 x 4.5 miles.

From all this information, we can conclude that the map is:

-20.25 Square Miles
-64 Square Kilometers

And, with 126 layers (The bottom is bedrock, and you cannot build on the 128th layer) to build on, the map is made up of about 4,032,000,000 blocks, and it is capable of containing 8,064,000,000 blocks. That's Eight Fucking Billion blocks.

Now dontchu ever complain that the map is too crowded.

Edit: Including the bedrock layer, which technically can counts as a layer of blocks there are about 4,064,000,000 blocks on the map, and 8,128,000,000 possible blocks.

Interesting, i've actually thought of determining that myself once or twice but never had the motivation to do so. Thanks for saving me any work =D

All it is is simple addition multiplication, and division

3997+4002+1

8000/1000

8000*3

24000/5280

8*8

4.5*4.5

8000*8000

64000000*126

64000000*127

If you placed a block on the map every second of your life, and you reached the age 100, you would not get to 2 billion.
