These updated new TeamSpeak rules are effective immediately

Oasis Teamspeak Rules

Welcome to Oasis Teamspeak! In order to create an environment that is enjoyable for all players, we have created a carefully defined set of rules which apply to each and every player on Oasis. Please read these rules carefully, as you are responsible for knowing and following them, and will be held accountable for any rules you break. Unfortunately, these rules are still a work in progress. Not every specific rule is posted on here. It is up to the discretion of the staff as to whether or not a rule has been violated. If you have been found to have violated a rule not on this list, depending on the severity, you may only receive a warning and the staff member who warned you may be required to discuss the issue with the rest of the staff.

Section I. Player Rules

a. Other Servers and Advertising
If you decide to start your own server, Minecraft or Teamspeak, or become infatuated with another server, there's nothing we can do to stop you. However, we do ask that you not promote or discuss outside servers while on the Oasis Teamspeak. Doing so may result in a warning, then continued advertising of another server may result in a ban from the server. We only ask that you give our server the same level of respect that the founders of Oasis gave every other server upon its creation. You may send a friend an IP of another server through PM if this is a very rare event, but you must not start spamming people with other IPs of servers to join. Basically use your common sense, we aren't going to punish you for asking your friend privately if you want to go play a few mini-games on another server for example, but if you start trying to get multiple players to leave the Oasis MC server, Minecraft or Teamspeak, then this will be punished and is not allowed in game, this includes PMs.

We are happy for players to advertise things such as streams or YouTube channels so long as it is not their sole reason for logging on, and that it is sparingly mentioned. You are NOT allowed to spam any sorts of advertisements. If your advertising is bothering anyone then you must stop IMMEDIATELY.

b. Etiquette and Swearing
Oasis is home to a wide range of ages, we have many children and families playing online and in TeamSpeak, so we ask that you keep your discussions suitable and appropriate for all players. We allow very minor cursing on the server generally but only to the level of PG-13.  Use your common sense. If someone tells you that they feel uncomfortable with the level of swearing or sexual content, you are to stop IMMEDIATELY. Even if it is a minor curse word, if someone isn’t comfortable then you are NOT allowed to use it! If you are in a private chat room and everyone in the room is comfortable with what is going on then you may swear but it must NEVER be disrespectful, racist, inappropriate, etc. SOME CHANNELS ARE RATED 18+ FOR LANGUAGE. YOU MAY JOIN THIS CHANNEL AT ANY AGE BUT EXPECT STRONG LANGUAGE. STRONG LANGUAGE AND MODERATE SEXUAL CONTENT IS ALLOWED HERE UNLESS A STAFF MEMBER INTERVENES. If a staff member tells you to stop what you are doing then you MUST immediately! Likewise if anyone in the room is uncomfortable, telling them to leave the room is not an acceptable excuse. You must always keep it appropriate for everyone who can hear you or see anything you can type!

Excessive swearing or other explicit content/language is punishable by a kick or even a ban. Socially unacceptable terms such as 'getting raped' or ‘kys’ (kill yourself) are also not allowed on Oasis, even in the 18+ rooms. Clearly no racist, sexist, or any other kinds of disrespect or discrimination is allowed on Oasis and the smallest penalty you will face is a ban. Oasis prides itself on the inclusion of everyone and we ask that you try not to make anyone feel uncomfortable or not included. Topics of discussion such as politics can quickly get out of hand so we ask that you keep them brief, if you wish to go more in depth then please do it privately. Excessive political debates or similar are NOT allowed.

Please also note that we ask you speak in the English language when talking. You aren’t however going to be banned for a quick “Bonjour” or “Hola” etc. Feel free to use other languages in private chats if everyone else is okay with that, but if you're going to talk to everyone try to make sure they all can understand what you're saying.

c. Respect
We ask that you exhibit a level of respect that would be expected from you in person. This includes respecting other players as well as Staff members. You MUST respect the staff of the servers at all times, they have absolute authority on the server and know what they are talking about. Staff are volunteers, we give up our free time to help the server in any way we can. You should never be impolite to a staff member and any indication that you are doing so may result in further action, especially if it is severe enough to be classed as disrespect.  Any disrespect to staff members or anyone one else will be punished accordingly. If you genuinely feel you have been mistreated by a staff member then you can post a ban appeal, contact the staff member directly via private message on the forums, or contact either of the server owners Madscientist032 or Paxination, but this does NOT give you the right to back-chat or be rude to a staff member. (When contacting the staff member you disagree with it is usually best to wait a while after the initial event. Lots of staff will take this as you pestering them against their decision. Always be polite and constructive, if you want a second opinion then ask another staff member first. If you send a staff member threats or similar messages not only will you face an instant permanent ban but harassment could also be dealt with by the police as this is an illegal offence.) Also please note, the use of racial slurs or other extremely offensive language/behavior is strictly prohibited and may result in further action taken against you beyond a server ban.

d. Spamming
Spam is defined as obnoxious chat behavior, not just sending the same message several times, and is prohibited at all times, spoken or typed. Examples of spam include using all capital letters in multiple sentences when typing, random letters, macro use in public chat without permission, various forms of begging, the usage of a hacked client to spam, or any other form of disrupting chat solely for being a nuisance. This can also include any random and annoying noises. Any kind of annoying chat that is bothering the other players on the server can and will be classed as spamming. This includes joining and leaving a channel multiple times in quick succession or similar.

e. Names / Nicknames
When using TeamSpeak it is easily possible to change your name. Any kinds of names that do not conform to the already defined rules for the TS server are completely not allowed. Any offensive, racist, disrespectful or inappropriate names will result in your being kicked or banned from the server. You are also NOT allowed to impersonate a staff member under any circumstances. This includes minor variations on staff members names.

f. Private Messaging or Private Channels
On TeamSpeak you may chat privately with others. This can be used generally as you like, chat rules about swearing will not apply in private messages AS LONG AS ALL PARTIES INVOLVED ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THE LEVEL OF CHAT. You may not disrespect players or staff in private messages, and you cannot do unacceptable things such as setting up a group to talk behind someone's back for disrespectful reasons. If any indications of any of these are reported, you may face a ban.

g. Links/URLS
You may post URLS (links) in chat , but you must only link appropriate web locations that obey all the chat rules stated elsewhere. Any links to inappropriate websites may result in you being banned from the server or having the ability to post links removed. If you are unsure if your link is appropriate you can ask a staff member to look it over before you post it. No shock sites!

h. Personal Information
Sensitive information like locations, your school, your full name or phone number, can all be dangerous things to talk about in a public chat. Obviously telling someone your first name will not be doing any harm, but you must exercise caution when giving out personal information. Giving out someone else’s personal information is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Just because you know someone's address or phone number does not mean you are allowed to give this information out. The same goes for linking to player’s social media accounts. In general, avoid doing any of these. It is always safer to give out information about yourself in private messages to people you trust. If you feel as if someone is pressuring you to give out personal information you should contact a staff member as soon as possible!

i. Staff Discretion
As applies to all Oasis rules, staff may exercise their own discretion at all times. Just because something you do is not a “rule”, you must follow instructions by staff at all times. If you do something that someone is uncomfortable with, then you must always stop immediately even if you don’t think it's a rule. If you are unsure, then contact a staff member. Equally, if a staff member asks you to stop doing something then you must obey them, if you argue with a staff member this is likely to fall under the disrespect rules. Always follow the information from staff and if you think something they say or do is incorrect then contact them personally by a private message or contact a server owner.

Section II. Staff Rules

a. Kicking/Banning
You may first give the player a warning in chat, then if no response comes or if the illegal act continues, you may kick the player with a warning message upon their return. If the rule breaking continues, you may ban the player with the message “You can appeal on the Oasis SMP forums" or something of the likes.

Most importantly, /kick and /ban are ONLY to be used for legitimate, moderating purposes.

b. Editing
You must have the permission from an admin or owner to edit the descriptions, names, channels, et cetera, in teamspeak. Let it be known that you are only allowed to change the description of a players name with their permission only.

Section III. Subject to change and discretionary clause

Please be aware that these rules are subject to change at any time, and it is the responsibility of you, the player, to review the rules and be aware of any changes. You will be held accountable for your actions, and any rule breaking can and will be met with punishment. All of the above rules are under the discretion of the Oasis staff. This also means an administrator can enforce a new rule at any given time whether in game or on this official list. If at any time you feel a staff member has overstepped their bounds, you have the right to dispute this discretely. Firstly contact the staff member to ask about their actions, be aware that you are expected to respect the staff member at all times and you should not argue with them, if you are still unconvinced check with a different staff member for a second opinion. It will be documented in the server logs and may be reviewed upon if needed.
