People know what JrMod is by looking at the title, why change it? Also if anybody's staff on the server because they want that sweet sweet prefix next to their name they probably shouldn't be.

I think the purpose of the topic was to seek a name that may better define the rank and garner more respect than "Jr", not necessarily to have a "sweet prefix" - though some of the suggestions may be considered sweet. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

JrMod seems to be the most practical/functional title still though. It's not like it desperately needs to change, but it's nice to exchange ideas when people express interest in changing something. It's really up to staff in the end anyway.

I just thought of "Mod  SrMod and Admin", since it would eliminate "Jr", but idk. It's kind of the same thing just shifted up a little :/

Thank you everyone for your opinions.

Like I said, I'm not saying JrMod is bad, or whoever decided it is wrong.
SrMod is a bit better than JrMod, but you're right, that's just shifting things upwards.

It indeed doesn't NEED to be changed, I just wanted to throw the idea out there.
I'm still interested in other's opinion if anyone hasn't spoke up yet.

I personally would be happy to change JrMod to a better name IF we could all agree on a better name. So yes, please keep the discussion going! If you can come up with a great name then there is no reason we wouldn't do it! But atm, imo I think JrMod is still the most practical :3

My personal list of favorite alternatives:

Monitor
Guide
PeaceKeeper
Staff
Mediator
Guardian

I doubt we will be going back to Guide however, and it has already been shown that Monitor was voted against.
The title needs to be less of a "I'm in charge of the server" and more of a "I'm here to help you" name.

Not Sure if I should, but I'm Throwing in my two cents.
Back in 1.5 I was staff on another server. It was an Smp server though. Anyway their Staff ranking went a little like this.

FlashLight Cop/ Mall Cop: First Level of staff, I believe does what JrMod does

Security: Next Level of staff aka Mod (I realize this sounds like prison..)

National Guard/Admins of Awesome: It's Admin, just dont ask about the name...

Thats not very good. This server was realy a family server. A Dad owned it, and his kids were staff along with other. The names were more of a haha name. Maybe changing to something practical and funny would be cool.
just an Idea

Lol those are funny names Silent, but I don't think they are exactly what we need.
We are looking for more serious names that convey a sense of professionalism while still retaining an approachable demeanor.

If not guide, how about Guidance? Or Help Desk? Or maybe Community Outreach Program?

[sarcasm abounds] [help desk might work, actually]

Or instead of Help Desk, Front desk. Since JrMods are the first level and The front desk is usally the first place you go for help. Also If there is a major problem the front desk can contact higher ups.
Hmmm

Help Desk and Front Desk are nice in theory, but honestly they don't sound like titles, they sound like a place.

I loved guide when it was a prefix. Maybe we could do Helper?

All I can think about is how AWFUL our Guidance Councilors were in College and High School. Please do not make us compare us to them. Thanks. LOL

In all fairness, I do enjoy the thought of Moderator [Mod] -> Senior Moderator [Sr.Mod] -> Administrator [Admin]. Its professional, outlines our experience/time served with community and easily understandable. Jr.Mod also kind of bothered me because I felt it reflected too much on 'lacking experience but learning'. That being said, its a term used in the business world and is acceptable at a professional level.

Does it need changing? Not really. Was this a fun topic to kick around in my mind the past few days? Absolutely.

You know frelling well I'll start going for Peacekeeper. You don't dangle a title like that in front of a rabid Farscape fan and expect him to sit still.

I do certainly like the idea of Mod to SrMod better than JrMod to Mod.
It's just something about the title junior that irks me.
Mod sounds official and SrMod just improves that.
While JrMod sounds kind of like a put down.
And while I know this isn't how the staff thinks, I can't help but imagine it in my head: "Move over Jr, the real staff is here now"

Again, I'm not saying that's how anyone here thinks, but someone coming onto the server for the first time may.
Jr just doesn't have as much of a respectful sound to it.

That's all very well, But I still think it makes more sense to have JrMod and Mod rather than Mod and SrMod.

Firstly like has been said by various people we want JrMods to be a bridge between the community and staff, we don't want them to seem threatening, JrMod to me is a nice title that implies both a staff member, and also is quite close to home for the general player on the server, and as I've said before, they don't yet have the full job of a moderator if you look at it technically, whereas our Mods do, so calling JrMods Mod to me seems less logical. Also look at our staff atm, we have a lot more mods than JrMods, to me, if it were called SrMod, it would be a bit weird to have loads of SrMods and only a few mods, yet this situation happens a lot, and it seems more realistic to have a few JrMods and then quite a few Mods.

All of that said, I'm Not 100% against the SrMod thing, I just still feel like what we have rn is the better option

This.
This is an excellent point and one I can't argue with at all.

While I still don't feel JrMod is the appropriate title, I do agree that Mod is too big of a gap to jump after being part of the community.

If there were some other name that implies the sort of middle ground between community and staff, while at the same time having more of a sense of respect than "Jr".
That would be the perfect name.
Again, I still don't know what that name is, but I've really been enjoying hearing everyone's thoughts, please keep them coming if you guys have any more.

Support?
Intern?

I think JrMod makes a lot of sense though. again, it's  very concise (5 characters) and conveys that this person is a staff member ranking directly below Mod. The different brackets for staff (e.g. versus [Veteran]) do a bit to differentiate, but I think that if there's going to be a "non-traditional" staff rank, it should be something that makes it very clear whoever holds it is staff. JrMod is good in that almost everyone will recognize "Mod".

Just my 2 cents
