MC IRL - Would you rather have warps or sethomes?

Post by VMOne on 10/23/2015, 5:14 am

Hello Oasisians!

Imagine if Minecraft technology were somehow possible in real life. Let's say smartphone technology advanced to include teleportation. If that were possible, would you prefer:

  • pre loaded warp points (/warp in MC) - warp points pre loaded on your smartphone and set by the provider. Let's pretend they are a mix of important, scenic, and interesting locations that are primarily specific to your local area, but there would also be a smaller set of warps to attractions within your providers entire coverage area. You would get 25 warps per plan.
  • the ability to set homes (sethome in MC) - you could create and save your own custom teleportation points using your smartphone. Let's say the provider gives you 25 /homes per plan. Of course you would have to travel to a location before you could choose to save it as a home, but once the home is set you could go back by clicking a button anytime you wanted. You could set homes anywhere on your provider's network.

To make you think about it even more, once you teleported to a /warp or /home, your "family plan" would allow you to /tpahere anyone on your plan. You would also get a special "feather" addon for one of your vehicles so you could teleport it to wherever you went too.

Tell what you would prefer and why!

Er that's kind of a hard choice since they are both similar..

I would choose the /warp plan because I can go to 25 of my favorite warps anytime I want, instead of making 25 homes/places. Like if I went to a warp that is a residence/town, I could live there .3.

Couldn't I also have a warp set at my house? :3

Personally i would choose set homes because it is basically
Warps. Not only that it would be more convenient despite having to travel to the location.  For me the homes would be in more remote locations like deep in the woods and you can still move around to gone new locations.  Their basically the exact same thing though, as they do the same task and allow you to do the same things

That's the difference. Warps would be set by the provider to popular locations (New York Grand Central Station, The Staples Center, The Eiffel Tower, popular amusement parks like Six Flags, etc). Unlike Oasis, you would not get to apply for a warp to your house or city. Of course maybe your provider could give you /back ability :)

Homes would be set by you wherever you want, but you have to travel to the place first.
