So you think you can Write? Empty So you think you can Write?

Can you write? Can you write well? Can you write a 50,000 word essay in under a month? I think I can.

The month of November is National Novel Writing Month, and this website has a challenge- write an original, interesting short story. The catch? It has to be written in the month of November of 2012, and it has to be over 50,000 words (it cannot be the same word written 50,000 times). If you make it, in the time limit, and over the word limit, you could win an actual publishing! Of course, even if you don't win then you can still try, and have fun while doing it.

Even better, you can write about anything. Write about minecraft if you want. Write about whatever pleases you. I'm doing this, and I'm trying to get everyone I can to join me. It's a fun little game to play with your friends; Who can get the highest word count?

My stories gonna be set 4,000-5,000 years in the future, when humanity unites under one nation, pools its resources, and makes huge scientific, economic, and social leaps. One of the scientific discoveries is time travel, which quickly becomes public and mainstream. For example, fourth graders would go on a class field trip to a Revolutionary War battlefield or other such location, completely protected by warp fields (Warp fields will be another advancement- whoever is inside the field is outside the timestream, looking in). To protect the past and ensure the safety of the future, two government offices are set up: The Council, led by the Councillors and the Judges, led by the Overseer. The Council is a group of historians who debate on how to meddle with history; For example, if they decide that WWII would have been won by Hitler, and thus change the course of human history, they go back and change one little event that ensures that Hitler loses the war, but the war still happens and that history continues in a good way. The Judges, on the other hand, enforce the three rules of Time Travel (which I have not made up yet), and are the interdimensional police if you will. They are commanded by the Overseer, who ultimately decides who is breaking the law and who is not, and deals out punishment. This set up allows for a lot of arguments in the future; The communist type Judges versus the democratic Council. So the main story will be about the political tensions between the two rival parties, with little subplots here and there.

That's a nice plot, but watchout, if there one thing i hate with stories with time-travelling is that they go out of the scientific facts, and starts to become un-logical, a great question to ask yourself while writing about time-traveling is: ''If i went back in time, and killed my father, then who would've killed my father?'' Even thought there's hundred and hundreds of theories to time-traveling, i always think of that when it comes to discuss it, maybe listen or read some archives, articles, or even listen to some podcasts about it, it's a marvelous thing, yes, true, but if you use it correctly the horizons might even expand more.

oh and please dont blow the peasant's head off with so much logic.

That's the point of the Overseer; to prevent the Grandfather Paradox, or others like it. I dunno, they plant chips in peoples minds that pick up those brainwaves that match the configuration for the thought 'I'm gonna kill my grandfather'.

Or, because those people are outside the time-space continuum, they cannot influence the people on the other side. To do that, they would have to have clearance (Councillors) and make an extra-field jump. All this I can explain while still remaining relevant to the over all topic.

Seems pretty legit. I always knew the world would be a dictatorship.
